Following Hiver’s excellent EP, LET Recordings again welcomes American DJ and producer Jon Hester to their imprint. Currently based in Berlin but with previous spells in Chicago and Minneapolis, he returns to the label for a second EP following 2017’s Communication EP, and other outings on the likes of Rekids and Dystopian. 

His adventurous drum programming and high speed techno style kicks things off with Radiance, a manically melodic track that takes you on an energetic trip. Impermanence is a deeper, more cinematic piece that features rueful pads but still a driving drum line, then Stratospheric has huge, hammering kick drums and squelchy synth sounds as well as dancing keys that bring warmth, groove, and soul. Last of all, this high class excursion is completed with Horizon, delivering barreling drum patterns and edgy pads that trap you in suspense as it races on. All four tracks deliver a high impact techno sound that very much looks to the future.

Warsaw based Jurek Przezdziecki, aka techno guru Epi Centrum, is set to release Transfer of Power on Cologne label Trapez later this week. Known for their Berghain- worthy hard-hitters, Trapez have been bringing in the deep cuts since 2000, and now connect with the modular maverick Epi Centrum on this 4-track EP of slickly produced hits, recorded with Centrum’s signature experimental hand on the analogue mixer. First on the EP is title track ‘Transfer of Power’, a product of distorted feedback and glaring techno to outshine any set. The dark bass carries into the next track ‘Cre- puscular’, which skates on the fringes of IDM with its propensity for melody between the beats. Centrum’s manipulated vocals can be heard on the hypnotic swirl of ‘WUWYP’, com- bining whirring mechanical drums, whilst ‘Wet’ is a shimmering emblem of melodic techno, wit abrasive noisy percussions adding a distinct edge. Transfer of Power is an intense gem of modular synth-driven techno, and a welcome addition to Epi Centrum’s impressive projects.

The door of the house was ajar, lock broken and glass smashed into tiny pieces. Every inch of the interior had been defaced, damaged and neglected. Nothing seemed salvageable. She took a deep breath, this was her responsibility, she was in charge of taking care of this space and she'd failed completely. What could she do or say to rectify this? There was nothing that could save her if she told the truth. Everybody would ostracise her, cast her off. Her reputation would be in tatters. She only had one option... To lie through her teeth. It felt like eating knives...

Lithuanian artist Jaroška's music blends influences like post-punk, rave, EBM and electro. His latest record gets the rework treatment from Berlin duo Local Suicide and Argentinian producer Skelesys who, between them, have landed on Ombra International, Multi Culti, Bordello A Parigi and Rotten City Trax.
