Ukrainian duo Woo York debut on Soma with the first in a two part series entitled Ancient Light. Denis & Andrew have been regulars on the underground scene in Kiev for many years now and with a live act armed with drum machine, samplers & groove boxes they bring their experience direct to the dance floor. This EP explores the deeper side of hypnotic techno. 

Ancient Light opens the EP with deep and powerful rhythms. Haunting synths float atop a bed of rolling analogue sub bass and a driving kick drum. Woo York create a perfect DJ tool with this as the track seamlessly flows powered by a real analogue sound.

Solar Diet ties in perfectly as yet more dystopian rhythms seep out the track. Crisp and snappy percussion back a dark and pulsing low end while a trippy synth hook flickers in and out keeping the one of this track firmly in the deep end. 

Woo York have crafted two fine techno tools doused with their signature deep and hypnotic sound, perfect for any DJ set.

Jonas Kopp first impressed the DJ-league and techno fans worldwide in 2007 with his incredible release on Spectral 43. In the meantime he released more amazing records on labels such as Weave, Vinyl Club and CMYK Musik. We are playing Ed’s music for quite a long time now. 'Silver Walks' on Maeve might have been our favorite record of 2016. We never met in person though, until we played together at the Block in Tel Aviv this spring. We had a brief but nice conversation and stayed in contact after that. So the idea came up to do something together. The result is this wonderful mini album… four club tracks and three interludes, each creating different moments and vibes for the dancefloor. 

'Festnetz' is Ed’s vision of modern Acid House; trippy, electronic, Acid without a 303. 'Severance' is the late night tip for us. What depth this track has. It demonstrates the contrast between darkness and light perfectly!

'Rain' has been tried and tested several times at Panorama Bar and the Block Tel Aviv - definitely a secret weapon for Ed and for us. 'Inner Senser' is the perfect sunset record, or also for the early morning. Beautiful, long and continuous… from heartache to euphoria!
