Annie Mac Plays Gregori Klosman 'Funk It' 25.10.13

Ilya ViG brings us his debut Pulsar release called Pacilistrica, you might wonder what the word means, but it’s completely made up by Ilya that came to him one night in his dream. The track is a proper uplifting tune, building up with euphoric pads that brings us to an amazing lead melody that puts this track apart from others. The lead melody catches fast on us and will most likely stick in your head for some time as well.

The remix duty is handed to another new faces on the label, a trio of Polish guys going by the name Behind The Sunset brought a more clubbier feel to this track with big rolling snares, hard basslines and gritty sounds. This one will most likely be our DJ’s pick.

Pacilistrica

Ilya ViG - Pacilistrica (Original Mix)

Airzoom & CJ SN return to Pulsar Recordings with yet another emotional trancer. Innocent Scream starts off with a prelude full of magical sounds giving us an inside peek of what is about to come. The bass kicks in and we’re off for an amazing ride with our Azerbaijan guys. The female voice guides us into the track further, as it sets the tone for a stunning breakdown with fragile piano sounds. The main lead soon takes over and we’re once again flying off.

OBM Notion takes care of the remix by putting more accent on the leading synths layering them up for a bigger sounds. Yet that’s not all, the approach he decide to take in the breakdown works even more magical than in the original, giving it a more serene overall feel with those dreamy guitars and plucked synths that all dance together, bringing us higher and higher to a state of real trance euphoria.

Hypert & PortoSpawn - The Darkside

Skysha is ready to warm your souls yet again with his heart felt melodies, only this time he is being joined by the renowned Russian saxophonist Mikhail Morozov better known by the alias Syntheticsax. 

What the guys have prepared for you is simply beyond amazing. Skysha provided a solid basis for Mikhail to work on, as the track starts easy with the chilled intro and then the hard beats get us going. Musical droplets are introduced with a driving bassline that leads us straight into the breakdown that is safely kept for Mikhail’s saxophone magic. You need to hear it for yourself to hear what this guy is capable of doing, playing with his sax like it’s just a toy, giving us goosebumps all over our body… The track starts lifting us up and we’re up dancing all over again. Provided in this package is also a dub mix that includes a clean instrumental mix of Skysha’s work for everyone to enjoy, but we guess you already know which one is our personal favorite in this one.


Wandering Thoughts

We’re here once again to bring you the latest trance fix! This time we’re welcoming back one of our regulars, Ascania. His newest track ‘Trying To Disappear’ has a dark note to it from the very beginning, as we go deeper the track introduces us to a sublime synths that echoes in our head. In the breakdown a crying girl awaits for us who’s sorrow continues to ring in a form of a very beautiful but also at the same time very sad piano line; yet a very optimistic lead takes over slowly building up and giving us a hand of hope.

The remix comes from Polish guys Behind The Sunset with whom we already met in one of our previous releases. They transformed this track into a big room tune that can be dropped in a club of any size, the beats are heavy and greasy, something that will call everybody to get on the dance floor. The guys also kept the emotional breakdown we had in the original, but spicing it up with added choir voices and a new lead sound. After that the big drop takes over and bangs it up in style making you go frenzy.


Trying To Disappear

What a strange title to start with, ‘Three Headed Monkey’ by Oliver & Tom is the newest release on Pulsar Recordings. Strange or not, the monkeys are furious with fast rolling basslines, but the breakdown manages to calm them down with serene pads and misty piano lines. It doesn’t take long of before the introduction of the big leading synths that build up this tune to a proper uplifting trancer.

On remix side of this single we have a newcomer from Germany going by the alias Farzam. His version starts with hard kicks and chopped voice overs that together with newly introduced synths slowly shape up  into a proper uplifting tune. The breakdown features a more classical approach with mesmerizing strings that reveal the big saw sounds that continue building and layering up until the big drop hits us and takes us on journey far away.

Armin van Buuren has said of the man, "Everything he touches turns to musical gold." Really, there can be no stronger endorsement, nor can there be a statement more accurate. 

His is a classic tale -- inspired at the age of 8, it wasn't long before his life's journey led him to audio engineering school, and ultimately, to the largest festivals in the world. Protoculture's fans are filled with an almost feverish adoration, the kind of hard-earned reputation that only someone with genuine talent can enjoy. Success hasn't been all roses for the producer, however, as his hometown is one of the worst spots to travel from for an internationally touring DJ. 

'Music Is More Than Mathematics' is an appropriate title for this exceptional album, and there's absolutely no formula for what Protoculture does. If "awesome" could be bottled into a jar, it would be this record. Finding better descriptors is as pointless as trying to compete with his musical talents. 
Even though each record radiates the artist behind the controls, Protoculture was able to attract talented producers, songwriters, and vocalists to help realize this record. Christian Burns, Johnny Yono, Max Graham, Jennifer Rene, and Tricia McTeague are some of the multitalented collaborators that made 'Music Is More Than Mathematics' possible, and their respective contributions seem to come at the precise time they're needed in this musical journey. 

Certain albums defy conventional logic, and certain sounds are so transcendental that it's hard to see "trance" as anything but the right term. This is a special release, and one that covers as much territory as Protoculture's frequent trips around the globe.

Julie Thompson with Super8 & Tab - Your Secret's Safe

In what might be the most anticipated trance track of 2013, singer-songwriter Julie Thompson and Finnish duo Super8 & Tab are pleased to announce their collab 'Your Secret's Safe' on Magik Muzik. Debuted at ASOT 600 in Kuala Lumpur, 'Your Secret's Safe' set the Twitterverse ablaze with questions about who could possibly be behind the unidentified track. When it was announced that Julie's vocal trance anthem was aligned with Super8 & Tab as the lead single off her sophomore album, Eye Of The Storm, everything clicked into place. The pulsating bass drives the listener towards an emotional piano interlude that, combined with tug-on-your-heartstrings lyrics and aching vocals, lead in to a synth symphony of epic proportions.

It would only seem fair that a collaboration of this level of quality would come once in a career, but 'Your Secret's Safe' is Super8 & Tab's and Julie Thompson's second joint venture, after 2010's smash 'My Enemy.' Her latest track 'Skin & Bones' with Andy Duguid is currently making the radio show rounds, with support from Above & Beyond, Tritonal and others. Now with her next surefire success 'Your Secret's Safe', Julie heads full throttle towards the release of her album this summer.

Says Julie: "When I started writing the songs for Eye Of The Storm, Super8 & Tab were at the top of my producer list, so I was really excited to have them work on this track with me. They've managed to capture the emotion of 'Your Secret's Safe' perfectly. This song is really close to my heart and I'm really excited for it to finally be out there."

With an eclectic background almost as varied as her vocal stylings, Julie Thompson has become a tour de force within the dance music scene, first debuting in 2003 with the classic Holden & Thompson - 'Nothing.' In 2007, she hit the world stage for a collaboration with Tiësto called 'Do You Feel Me,' which was part of his hugely popular album and subsequent tour, Elements of Life. Her debut solo artist album Feeling For Corners was released on Black Hole Recordings in 2009 to huge critical acclaim, displaying her matured vocal performance and songwriting abilities. In 2013, the UK-based songbird will give vocal trance music fans ten new tracks to sing along to and blazing hot new material for DJs on dancefloors across the world.

"'Your Secret's Safe' is one of my favourite tracks from Eye Of The Storm and feels like the perfect first single as it really sets the tone for what's to come. I'm very proud of this album. It's taken awhile to finish but I wanted to take my time and produce something I was completely happy with," says Julie.
