Hot on the heels of his 9-track OWSLA-released EP, To a New Earth, LA funkstepper Kill Paris aka Corey Baker has lent his impeccable production chops to a new single, Falling In Love Again. The track, Baker's take on a sensual R&B jam features vocals from Marty Rod and Alma and electro that boldly stands in defiance of the build-up-to-the-drop mentality of today's EDM world. The track is due out via OWSLA on July 9th, and is part of Kill Paris's upcoming Fall 2013 EP, also on OWSLA. Baker will also be playing OWSLA's Tomorrow World stage this coming September in Atlanta.

The last few years have seen composer, producer, DJ and A&R man Ad Brown keep the EDM universe supplied with a steady flow of highly polished, broad-span-appealing electronic music. Locking on to the beneath-the-surface magnetism of his productions, an ever-increasing directory of world-class DJs have rallied to his sound. Now the young Londoner is ready to step centre stage with the release of his debut long-player. Over a scrupulously edited collection of music, he matches his own inimitable production stylings - that of a cooler, more cultured house, trance & more with an attuned ear for memorable, accessible lyrics and engaging vocals. 

If you're starting to feel an itch or twitch for music with less glitch, it's time to take... 'Something For The Pain'

Brown took the album decision whilst on a travel sabbatical, journeying around the Asia and the South Pacific and commenced its production the week of his return. Many months in the making ("close to 30" says Brown), and condensed down from over a 100 demos, concepts and ideas to 14 pristine refined productions, Ad's first album collection is finally here.

 On its completion he stated: "I feel there is a 'too soon' and a 'too late' for a first artist album to arrive. It falls at a different point for every producer, but this feels like a good time for me. 'Something For The Pain' has taken no small amount of blood, sweat and tears to get sounding exactly the way I wanted it. Its also taken time, but as the saying goes 'the devil is in the detail' and I wouldn't have had its production any other way. I am thoroughly delighted to finally be on the eve of the album's release."

'Something For The Pain' embarks with the spacious redolent chill of 'More' and its lead-out single, 'Ready And Waiting'. Through their verses and choruses, vocalists Hannah Ray and Tess instil an epic nature to the songs, thawing the productions' cooler edges and bringing heat and harmony to the album's overture.

Championed by Ferry Corsten, most recently on his Once Upon A Night 4' album, 'Thrive' begins to hardwire more driving, floor-facing tones into 'Something For The Pain's system. Co-produced alongside Miami studio-head Stan Kolev, the pair incorporate a grooving feel-good bassline nature, tying it idiosyncratically to cool trance-progressive tones. 'Tears' meanwhile is a rare instrumental from Brown. Basing itself around a chiming xylophonic leadline, it deals complex yet memorable note movements.

Hung off resonating piano notes, reverberant stormy FX (recorded in Indonesia during his travels) and drum-free immersion, 'Sorry's half-whispered/half-sung lyrics, deliver 'Something's midpoint interlude. It's an ephemeral rest-up though as 'Pulse' (produced alongside stateside Shawn Mitiska) plunges into big, sonic tubular mainlines, bringing greater force and stridence to the album.

The trance-toned, Kerry Leva sung 'One More Night' and the transposing riffs and ever-exacting production of 'All I Need' deliver the album some of its most uplifting moments. 'Been A While' brings further contrast through its classic Chicago house themes, whilst vocalist Arielle Maren infuses both list and lament on 'Like The Sunrise'. 'Lie Awake' again highlights Ad's innate ability to pair catchy vocals (Hannah Ray again) with accessible productions, while 'Tonight' gifts the album its pensive, touching, poignant dénouement. 

Across 14 advanced-beyond-his-years pieces of music, Ad Brown delivers a flawless first album. Flush with lyrical depth, an inspiring lack of cliché, vocal turns from class-of-tomorrow singer/songwriter talent and cornered around his precocious, hyper-polished studio work, 'Something' is a blueprint for a debut album.

If you need an antidote to the quantity-over-quality EDM tide, 'Something For The Pain's likely it. It's out through Black Hole Recordings on December 2nd.

Soon before the release of his first album ('Tehran Echoes') on Abora, Iranian producer Farhad Mahdavi officially reveals his first single off the album. It's called "A Thousand Pieces" and is a collaboration with the amazing vocalist Tiff Lacey.

"A Thousand Pieces" is a wonderful uplifting creation, supplemented by an emotional orchestral breakdown and enriched by astonishing and often-dark but often-uplifting vocals from Tiff Lacey in order to take you to a magical moment where your ideas are unconsciously absorbed through your mind. All you need is to close your eyes and let your mind join the experiment by itself.

For those who would like to focus on just the wonderful uplifting instrumentals without the lyrics, the release provides a dub mix, which removes all the lyrics but does keep parts of the atmospheric vocals.

The release also includes a radio edit.

Sound Apparel is back. If you’re familiar with his productions, you would know what this means. This producer never fails to deliver the most tension-filled tracks, telling captivating stories through his music.

‘The End’ starts off with an emotional piano melody, but it quickly spins out of control into a dark and techy tune. And the abrupt pauses give the listener a feeling of being lost, confused: you know the song is going somewhere, but you don’t know where. Eventually, the synth rises and leads the way, giving the track a sense of direction, like a lost soul that has found its path. But just as it goes up, the synth falls back down. And the ensuing silence gets taken over by a melancholic melody that just lingers on, over the uplift and drop, continuing the feeling of being lost throughout the track. But Sound Apparel never leaves his listeners hanging. Towards the end, the synth pushes through in full force. Release at last… and calmness takes over.

‘Divided Kingdom’ by Sunset Heat, the latest release on Pulsar Recordings, is a powerful and emotional tune that will send the listeners on yet another trip into the world of trance.

This single is very energetic from the beginning, with a rolling bass that provides a slow build-up, leading into a repetitive, hypnotizing loop that moves steadily into the breakdown. From there, a beautiful piano melody continues the journey, with an orchestral accompaniment that provides an emotional backdrop, followed by an intense uplift that teases the listeners’ feelings.

Blue Tente's Uplifting Remix starts with a thinner texture compared to the original version, enabling the piano to take the lead at the beginning. But as the bass and melodic loop rise slowly, the sounds merge to turn this single into a classic uplifting tune.

The breakdown in this version is a lot more emotional, followed by a rapid uplift that leads right back to the soft, tranquil melody that lingers on till the very end.

In Alexis Mixail’s remix, the percussion builds up slowly, followed by a much faster melodic loop, and echoing sounds that pick up as the melody fades away.

This version is more progressive, with a slower tempo and a structure that strays away from the traditional shape of trance tracks.

De Hofnar - Zonnestraal (Original Mix)

French Skies returns to Pulsar Recordings following the release of his single ‘Hieroglyph’, this time with an EP, entitled Calista, comprised of two original tracks and a remix.

The title track of the new release is a fast-tempo’d emotional tune that takes off with a looping melody. Slowly moving towards a drop that brings in echoing sounds, the tune eventually turns to a calm piano melody accompanied by orchestral instruments in the breakdown.

During the uplift, the melodic loop jumps back in, rapidly rising towards the skies and leading to a drop that will get the listeners pumping their feet to the beat.

Blue Tente’s take on the track is an even more emotional and uplifting version, with an underlying bass, and a sharp piano melody that leads the way from the get-go and into the melodic loop, followed by a heavily-instrumented emotional breakdown - all building a smooth journey that leads straight into an epic, mind-blowing uplift. Following the drop, the piano melody comes back in, slowing the listeners towards a calm stop.

‘Sun Dream’ is a more tension-filled track that starts with a driving bass and is slowly taken over by a synth that constantly rises and leads towards a bright, upbeat melody. This is followed by a short breakdown that slowly moves towards the climax as the synth and bass return, leading to a heavy drop, bringing back all the sounds that dance in chaotic harmony.

For its latest release, Pulsar Recordings brings you a brand new single by Airzoom & CJ SN.

Entitled ‘Until Forever’, the track kicks off with a melancholic piano melody accompanied by a low-lying, hypnotic loop and echoing chorals. As the track progresses, the melody gives way to a slow, tension-filled synth, followed by a dark and punchy beat, adding to this tune’s forlorn mood. The piano returns in the breakdown, playing a brighter yet still emotional melody that gives the listeners a sense of loss and despair. As the synth returns for the uplift, however, the mood changes completely, turning the tune into an upbeat one full of faith and hope as it aims higher and higher.

The Akku remix is a more uplifting version, with a rolling bass and pumping kick that push the track forward towards a rising loop that brings in the piano melody, which echoes in the breakdown, accompanied by soft orchestral sounds.

The Sunset Heat vs Simon Moon remix is the most energetic take on this track. This version features an electrifying bass, as well as a bright melody that rings towards a heavy synth, encompassing the listeners and leading them into the breakdown.

The instrumental mix, on the other hand, is an airy, ambient version that starts very calm, with the piano melody taking the lead, easing its way towards a chilled-out beat.

After all the banging instrumentals it’s time to deal with some vocal trance tracks, don’t you think? Our newest vocal release comes from Triplane, a progressive trance project by Serbian trio that was founded back in 2011, but only now we’re seeing a daylight of their first productions.

Their debut release ‘Fade Away’ features vocals by Juli, who’s voice complements this production so graciously that you wonder why you haven’t heard this angelic voice before? Beneath of that, Triplane delivered a cutting edge progressive trance instrumental with pounding beats and electrifying leading synths that add that much needed club feel to it.

To reach the perfection, they composed an overly emotional piano melody that is released in the breakdown adding its memorable key ingredient, and right there you know why we still call this genre, trance, as it will put you exactly in that state of a mind.

After making his Pulsar debut with a stellar EP earlier this year, Marian Closca returns with his ‘Skyscape’ project, bringing with him two more tracks that will undoubtedly take your mind on a journey into the world of trance.

The first tune, ‘Steam Traveller’, features a heavy bassline that fights its way with an acidic synth, both providing the backdrop for a light and breezy pad and echoing vocals. 

As the breakdown comes in, all sounds collapse, before they build tension as they slowly rise again, with an arpeggiated synth leading the way over the bass and kicks, till the song collapses once again, and yet again rises, making this tune a very fluctuating one full of questions and uncertainty.

‘Quantum Fighter’ is a more percussive and rhythmic track, with soft beats and claps playing around the bass before a heavy kick drops in, leading towards a build-up of the pads and melodic synth—both gaining momentum as they move higher and faster.

In the breakdown, the listeners are led into a beautiful, open air environment, where the sounds of tweeting birds and orchestral instruments take over their senses.

In an instant, the arpeggios come in, quickly rising towards the return of the kicks, before the sound of the drum disappears, and makes another return, teasing the listeners before making them lose themselves in the final drop.
