Label head honcho's Sleep D are back with another production out of The Jackal Studios, located in Melbourne, Australia.

'Red Rock (IV Mix)' kicks off the the release, a mid-tempo mover originally performed live at Inner Varnika 2017, re-imagined in the studio taking you back to the alien-like surrounds of rural Victorian landscape Bookaar. 'Bunyip Beat' reinforces the mood, forcing your mind to explore the flow of the odd-ball rhythm. Flip it over and you have almost 8 minutes of hypnotic aural madness on 'Sandman', a real late night outdoor atmospheric finish on this diverse release.

A nearly-lost existential house anthem from Chicago’s second generation, heavily under the influence of Ron Hardy, European EBM, and the struggle of daily life in the city’s marginalised neighbourhoods.
LITIA=LOE (Life In The Insane Asylum = Life On Earth) formed in Chicago amidst the burgeoning house movement of the 80’s. 

Leon Williams, Daryl Wilson, and brothers Grant and Simeon Rogers would meet up every weekend to soak up the sounds at local clubs like Music Box, Medusa, The Power Plant, The Warehouse, and Frankie Knuckles’ Dance Palace, where DJs would mix everything from disco to new wave, industrial to house music. After the clubs closed, they would retreat to Leon’s basement to experiment with synths, inspired by what they had just witnessed at the clubs.

At the time, the record barely made it out of Chicago, but the group did have a chance at notoriety. Rocky Jones of D.J. International Records offered up a “Blood contract” for joining the label. The group declined and the group remained a mystery.

More than 30 years later Each Dawn Every Dawn will finally be available again (no blood contracts needed). Due out though Left Ear records and Mixed Signals,  on the 27th of March 2020. Distro through Rushhour, Seance Centre or Direct in the Antipodes

Autumn. In autumn, sadness and yellow leafs, slush and mud. Supermarket. Chips and Cola, 10 different  types of deodorants in the supermarket. No DJ mixes or good alcohol help to fight boredorm. Store shelves. On the layouts - fresh meat, meat - is a source of protein. The Cashier looks like an angry dog ​​at the checkout, The security looks like a stupid bull. That is supermarket. But there is light and people. A life. People shun each other with false politeness, yielding to each other with fear of getting infected, do not look each other in the eyes as if they are afraid that their rotten inner world will become visible.
There is definitely something "afro" inspired about this latest EP from Puma & The Dolphin, certainly in comparison to pretty much everything else the mysterious Bulgarian project have produced, including a great EP for Canadian imprint Chambre Noire and some stellar inclusions on every one of Dj soFa's highly respected "Elsewhere" compilations.
The story goes that while immersed in domestic life during lockdown in Sofia the music evolved to take in what was happening at home and saw the inclusion of toy instruments, drum playing, the voices of children playing and even the family parrots whistling and squawking in the background. These random ambient insertions when seen in the context of the hypnotic and percussive rhythms and timbres are oddly reminiscent of the late, great Francis Bebey who, although culturally and physically a million miles removed, was also known for recording much of his work at home and who also featured the voices of his children playing.
In fact, it is as much the music's playfulness and simplicity that give the pieces their distinctive character, at times echoing the repetition and mesmerism of Raymond Scott's "Soothing Sounds For Baby" series. Yet, childrens' music this is not. There is a mysticism and depth on one hand and a willingness to experiment on the other that echoes the pioneering experimentalist K. Leimer's early Eno-inspired tape outings.
"This collection of pieces were created during a monotone period of my life which I have overlaid with colour: a time in which I surrender to the beauty of home life - watching my kids play, feeding the birds - entwining these sounds of my surroundings amongst the rhythmic layers of these pieces. Playing the drums to remind us of the next circle dance for four. How does it sound
if a piano is romping 
and a rhythm is stomping, 
stumbling over glowing voices along the way?

We didn’t know either. 

But when Paul and the Hungry Wolf were jamming in the studio around the final days of 2018, one particular outcome of those sessions could be described just as that.

By then, the Munich Duo had already established themselves as residents in several of the city’s most beloved electronic spots hosting international club nights for years. Their newest adventure around that time was ‘Galactico’, a monthly party series with regular guests like Skatebård, Young Marco or Massimiliano Pagliara. Until early 2020, those ‘dance classes for the intergalactic community’ gorgeously prospered into Paul and Daniel’s version of a perfect party, combining niche dance music with other arts and being an open and happy space for everyone.

But back to the hard-to-describe tune from the beginning… The immediate working title became ‘Mister Wonky’, thanks to its unusual rhythmical nature. Given the track’s rather chilled vibe, the two friends were surprised and excited that it constantly created such positive dance floor vibes, every time they tested it out in their DJ sets. When they asked one of their favourite producers, Philipp Lauer aka the disco phenomenon from Frankfurt, if he could imagine a remix for Galactico’s label start, he choose ‘Mister Wonky’. The resulting ‘Lauer Remix’ is an enchanting demonstration of his undeniable melodic qualities combined with a dreamy, abstract and partly rougher attitude that could easily make Lauer’s version that kind of growing, blissful festival weapon, we’re so dearly hoping to experience together again soon.

Paul and the Hungry Wolf - Mister Wonky

"Pulsinger & Irl" is the collaborative project between Austrian producer & techno pioneer Patrick Pulsinger and the Bavarian producer & sound engineer Sam Irl. 
Hailing from different musical backgrounds they found a mutual connection between experimental techno, sample-heavy dub & jazz and their love for analogue machinery.

Their live-set aims at capturing the essential vibe of live-performed techno and house music, working only with drum computers, a MPC sampler, analogue synthesizers and a series of dub-heavy effects recalling the atmosphere of Jamaican dub culture, early Detroit techno and contemporary electronics.

For over 20 years Patrick Pulsinger has released his music on his own label Cheap Records as well as numerous international imprints such as R&S, M Plant, Disko B, Compost, a.o. and worked as a producer with artists like DJ Hell, Hercules & Love Affair, Elektro Guzzi, Fennesz and many more.

Sam Irl has released his music on labels such as Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings (together with Ritornell), Jazz & Milk, Bonzzaj Rec. (together with Dorian Concept), Frank Music and Pulver Records.
