@kiernan-laveaux is a boundless ball of chaos energy - an adventurous spirit, conducting the binary dissolving forces of our world that are reflected & transmuted through the unbridled passion contained within her DJing. The Cleveland artist's mission is "to channel love and understanding to dancers of open mind and spirit everywhere." Since 2014, her ethos of community building, personal autonomy, & transportative psychedelia has grown to encompass the multiversal creators of possible worlds everywhere, the In Training, Heaven is in You, & Disco Paradiso parties that traversed the wormhole of limitless expression & jouissance together in Cleveland from 2014-2018, & the Motherbeat raves that continue to manifest sporadically throughout our known universe. The music she plays is impossible to pin down in genre terms, but is unified by it's restless sense of ecstatic momentum, dissonant euphoria, & kinetic exuberance.

Her 80-minute mix for us this week is jam-packed with a little bit of everything, from peak time and head melting techno to heavenly electronics and Earth moving beats. Umfang (@umfang) is a music producer and DJ based in NYC. Focused on an affection for heavy records from the past, she has performed in clubs, institutions and festivals in over 20 countries including Berghain, Dekmantel, MoMa PS1, Southbank Centre London, Dimensions Festival Croatia. She frequently plays in NYC at Basement, Public records, and Paragon. In addition to DJing she has produced 6 albums. Known for amorphous, polyrhythmic soundscapes, she has scored for runway, art exhibitions, and dance performances. In 2014 Umfang cofounded artist agency and platform Discwoman which aimed to offset representational imbalances within the music industry. She founded a digital music label 'Thanks For Enlightening Me' in March 2020. Her work has been covered in The New Yorker, Forbes, FACT, i-D, NPR, Pitchfork, and Resident Advisor.

This month, Constructive presents mixes by London’s DJ ojo and Tokyo’s DJ Trystero,  artist whose remixes will be released by the label in the coming months.

 DJ ojo who has released music for the ‘trademark nether zone system’ on Blank Mind, Tongue Tied and Oneiric  and has been described by Boomkat as making music 'ripe for early club hours and later sprawled on the rug.’

An enigmatic operator from the fogged-out fringes of techno, DJ Trystero has quickly impressed with a brief slew of releases for Incienso and The Trilogy Tapes. His reductionist style narrates bygone eras in abstracted flow, a singular sound cultivated with an assured touch. He also runs the cult City-St. Giga label out of Tokyo.
