THE MUSIC
This set is a whole new vibe for me. Most of my performances are specifically for the club, so fall into that 127-135 kind of tempo. I recorded this set over a year into lockdown, and was very disconnected from sound systems at the time, struggling with my relationship with club music and dancefloors. This set reflects that mindset, at a faster tempo than I've ever worked at before (158!), yet with more of an at-home listening vibe than a dancefloor feeling. While exploring this new tempo, I was thinking deeply about our interconnectedness and capacity for growth and change. We lost Andrew Smith two days before I performed this set, and his presence is felt throughout the recording.

THE GEAR
My live show is usually given on a stage, away from my home, so I use a carefully chosen selection of equipment that fits into an airplane. Typically, I perform with a sequencer, drum machine, 4 synthesizers, and 2-3 effects pedals. Recording a live set in my studio made it possible to use as many instruments as I have inputs, so I brought as much variety as I could to this set. While some of this gear is used throughout the set (say, the 808 BD), some of it only appears in a single track (like the Deckard's Dream). Here's the complete list of what I used to make the set.

Recorded live at the first Rebloom on Saturday 11th May, a party series in London that celebrates deeper minded music. The first instalment was hosted at Avalon in South Bermondsey on a scorcher of a sunny day. 

This set was recorded quite early on in the programming, and an opportunity to transition from the ambient soundscapes played by the ever charming Tolly Odd, and try to lay a foundation for Shoal, Laura BCR and Ario who played later on in the evening.

For the past 20 years, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, known by his moniker STBL (@stable-mechanism), has been developing his work in the realms of electronic music and sound art. With beginnings deeply rooted in the most elusive and daring music, he has strived to maintain a stylistic coherence, oscillating between distinctly minimalist approaches and more "musical" ones, always balancing sobriety and rhetoric.

Author's note: My proposal for Temple clearly reflects all the paths I have been exploring in recent years, utilising field recordings, generative synthesis, and more classical ambient patterns. As is customary, each live performance by STBL is ephemeral and unique to each occasion, making this recording a snapshot of the present and a memory of my appearance at the marvellous Espacio Perpendicular.

EP – Welcome to the Island
An introspective journey in four stages, between isolation, rebirth, and grounding.

Escape
The first track opens like a necessary flight, an urgent escape from reality or a burdensome past. The sounds are vivid, almost frantic, blending electronic and organic textures to express this need for rupture. It’s the launch into the water, the moment when everything shifts.

Crossing
Here begins the crossing. The rhythms become more fluid, oscillating like steady waves. One senses hesitation, endurance, but also momentum. It’s a transitional piece, filled with shifting emotions: between the uncertainty of the unknown and the thrill of the elsewhere.

Silence
The landing comes with a breath. The calm after the storm. This track is more minimalist, almost contemplative. It evokes stillness, the fertile void where a sense of peace gradually begins to grow. It’s a suspended moment, a deep introspection.

Anchor
The final track embodies acceptance and grounding. The sounds gain in density and warmth. You can feel the construction of a new beginning. It’s the moment when you plant your inner flag, finally ready to inhabit this metaphorical island — yourself.
