After taking a nearly year long slumber... Divine Species Records is back and we're making up for the break (one track per month to be exact 😉)

Even though we have been pretty silent on the label since our January release of CAMERA SHY, that doesn't mean that our residents haven't been hard at work. New collaborative projects have been formed, lots of tracks have been made, and plans for 2024 are looking bright.

But to prove we haven't forgotten about you, we wanted to give you a little end of the year present in the form of an 11 track VA, all from our DVSP residents!

To make it even more special, the artwork for the VA is the final piece of the puzzle we began to put together last year. Take a closer look and you'll see a little piece of everyone that released in 2022, many many thanks to our wonderful artist Lisa Bender for creating all of the incredible artwork 🤍

Tenho uma pena no peito...

After the release of their self titled and acclaimed first album, Bandua return with their latest single ''Pena no Peito I,'' in a string of new releases in 2024. 

Pena no Peito is a traditional folk song from the Beira Baixa region of Portugal originally called ''Canção da Tristeza.'' The song was discovered (or rather) taught to Bandua by the resident and celebrated singer folk Idalina Gameiro during an artistic residency in the village of Penha Garcia, where the song finds its birthplace.

KASTET — Sixty-Four

The word onirology is born out of two other words of greek origin, ‘’oneiron’’ and ‘’logos’’(dream and science)

Following up from his first independent releases at the end of 2019, Tempura the Purple Boy brings us his third volume of onirologies, sonic studies about dreams that were, that stayed, and those that later came to be. The ethereal and floating nature of the dream is represented here by deep layers of reverb, infinite pads intertwined with sparse melodies, and a feeling of nostalgia that takes over our subconscious. Abstract visions that come and go like the dream that stays overnight in your sleep, one moment revealing itself as reality, to suddenly surprise us with the truth, that actually it was just another ride through our inner unknown, during a night of deep sleep. It’s here that our past, present and future come together and reveal themselves in the most raw of manners. If it was possible to freely navigate our dreams at will, then the soundtrack would probably sound a lot like this.
