Following drops for Sneaker Social Club, Domino and Alexander Nut’s Ho_Tep label,
London-based producer Throwing Snow makes his debut on Local Action with an
ice cold three-track EP.

Opening track ‘Pyre’ is the straightest thing here, with vocals from Augustus Ghost
(Throwing Snow’s collaborator in Snow Ghosts, who’re in the process of recording an
album for Black Acre - home of Hyetal, Blue Daisy and more) riding bitter hi-hats and a
heavyweight bassline, while ‘Equuleus’ (also featuring Augustus) takes things into lo-fi pop
territory, with a swelling synth climax kept together by tight drum rolls.

The stand-out ‘Too Polite’ is the title track for a reason though - it’s torn-out jungle driven
by a jagged Reese bassline and rolling toms. Each track on this EP is totally different in
terms of style, tempo and clarity, but it’s all brought together by a bitter, icy feel.

As Local Action’s last release of 2011, the first run of vinyl copies will come packaged with
a CD-R label compilation, featuring 100% unreleased material from T. Williams, Contakt,
Laurel Halo, Throwing Snow, Damu, Jacques Greene and more.

Of all the new acts to have emerged so far in 2012, Py is definitely one of the most interesting, her astounding voice matched only by the calibre of producers, such as Breton, Throwing Snow, Damu,  Raffertie and Greenwood Sharps that she has been working with.

Ready to step into the spotlight Py is now releasing ‘Tripping On Wisdom’, a mixtape featuring her collaborations with the aforementioned names alongside Caspar Kedros who helped to mix the collection of tracks with Py. 

 ‘Working with these amazing producers has allowed me to create everything in a varied mix of genre, covering songs that have always been important to me. I wanted this mixtape to be from a vocalists perspective, lead by the voice.” Explains Py. 

“It’s a story of the memories and nostalgia of my past, feelings and situations I have dealt with, and that bittersweet feeling from leaving one place, letting go and moving into another time.”

The perfect snapshot of an artist at the start of their career, brimming with creativity and inspiration, ‘Tripping On Wisdom’ hails the arrival of a singular talent.

Py is a London based vocalist, songwriter, visual artist and instrumentalist. Her experimental work includes surround-sound installations and exploration of the sound of the human voice when the body is placed under restraint. Her recent collaboration with Throwing Snow, released on Super Recordings, established her as a unique vocalist with an enchanting presence. She has just finished collaborating on ‘When You’re Gone’ Ep with Lapalux, as well as Raffertie and Breton for their respective upcoming releases.

Mixed and mastered by Py with the help of Caspar Kedros. 
Field Recordings recorded in Brighton and London are used to link the different tracks creating Py's journey from Brighton to London where she started working with all the producers.
Analogue Tape Glove interludes created by Signal to Noise with Py using collages of audio material recorded onto magnetic tape. These were then played back and then manipulated alongside vocals and other instrumentation using a custom designed interface.

Ólafur Arnalds - Tomorrow's Song

Face + Heel aka Luke Taylor and Sinead Mcmillan have been gaining plaudits over the last few months thanks to their "intricate electronic compostions with an acute focus on songcraft" (XLR8R). ‘Py shows massive promise’ – Q Magazine

After releasing her astounding mixtape ‘Tripping On Wisdom’ which featured collaborations with the likes of George Fitzgerald, Throwing Snow, Breton and Raffertie last year, Py returns with the long-awaited follow up, ‘Polyethers’, produced by Maths Time Joy and released via Champion Records on 30th June. 

A song about being so in tune with someone you love you ride the same emotional cycle together through romance and nostalgia via the testing times, ‘Polyethers’ marks the next natural musical step for Py. Showcasing her vocal depth and tone, ‘Polyethers’ is an epic love song, complete with soul-tinged harmonies; both emotionally grand and understated in all its bittersweet subtleties. 

Fresh from his groundbreaking Jamie Lidell remix, from Berlin based DJ/ Producer Jimmy Edgar (Warp/!k7/Hotflush) on the flip, Py has effortlessly managed to retain her contemporary electronic sound and clear artistic vision, rooted deep through ‘Tripping On Wisdom’, whilst simultaneously showcasing her impressively versatile, pop-spattered voice. 

Since completing a debut headline UK tour late last year as well as support for the likes of Fenech Soler on their the recent sold-out tour, Py has developed a full live show in the past few months. 

With support as diverse as Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, Mixmag, Dazed & Confused, FACT and The Guardian and with further releases to drop on Champion, as well as forthcoming live dates and collaborations with Supreme Cuts through the latter half of 2013, Py is one artist set to stick around for a long time yet. Make sure you also watch out for her Red Bull Introducing session set to drop in late May.
