Chilean artist Magda Rot makes a head-turning debut here with some ice-cold electro rhythms on the Return To Disorder label which is now fast approaching a quarter century of releases. There is no messing with these sounds - they're built on tight, kinetic rhythms with fierce sound designs and stark futurism. 'Triads' is a mix of crisp hits and gurgling synths with dramatic background chords. 'Black Sense' is a slamming cut with a twisted bassline and hammering drum funk and 'Coincidences' brings the chilliness with its frosted lines and cold waves of synth. 5ZYL Bio
 
Zygimantas Dzikevicius aka 5ZYL hails from the vibrant urban district of Pasilaiciai in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since embarking on his musical journey in 2007, Zygimantas has been deeply influenced by the raw energy of old-school rave, breakbeat, and techno. His early work focused on crafting dubstep and jungle tracks, earning him spots as a dj at various underground parties and open-air events, including the renowned broken rhythm sound festival, Satta. In late 2019, he adopted the alias 5ZYL, a name that quickly garnered attention from influential figures such as Jensen Interceptor and local talent scouts from PPP and PZ Records, leading to a series of acclaimed EP releases.

On one side, the retro-futuristic elegance of Commuter, nourished by the first vibrations of electro and a fascination for Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. On the other, the dark, cinematic world of EKATA, a London resident and explorer of dystopian grooves inspired by science fiction. These two distinct trajectories converge on the split EP signed to Rennes-based label Ethos Records, due out on 27 June.

The project features four tracks, two from each artist, highlighting singular interpretations of electro: Commuter delivers pieces where sharp melodies and impeccable rhythms dialogue with new wave and EBM influences. EKATA, for her part, takes us on an immersive sonic journey, driven by abyssal bass and eerie synths.
