The All Good Funk Alliance drop a new EP featuring 4 different styles of funk for their
Super Hi-Fi label. “Make it Go-Go” featuring Big Tony of Trouble Funk has that classic DC Go-
Go sound but updated for the 2000’s. It's full of clanking percussion, horn blasts, and funky
synths making for a dope mid-tempo jam.
“Do Work” featuring Mustafa Akbar, goes for that Motown sound but updated in that
Mayer Hawthorne meets Mark Ronson way. This one is really catchy and you will find yourself
singing along to it.
“Funk This Jam” featuring Soul Suit is classic AGFA. A funky mid-tempo number that
feels like something that they would have put out on Funk Weapons back in the day. It's got call
and response vocals and insane breakdowns. Classic AGFA!
Finally we have “On - Off Boogie”. This nu-disco funk jam has got some squawky talk
box, funky beats, and really intricate synth work. It leans more on AGFA's “boogie funk” style
which rounds out this EP perfectly.

Dj Bacon releases his first solo recording project since his 2008 vinyl release. His new release “RUN–BST Megamix” is a shout out to hip hop pioneers and Bacons heroes Run DMC & the Beastie Boys. The 8 minute track features over 150 samples, loops, breaks and scratches stitched together in a way only an old school DJ could, using samples from only Run Dmc and Beastie Boys releases. 

Over the last 6 months DJ Bacon has lived in his studio spending his spare time manipulating hundreds of vinyl samples just for this mix . Speaking with his hands – he has made rhymes come together from different records and kept the melodies in key and on beat throughout the journey. 

The epic 8 minute Megamix is dedicated to passed RUN DMC and Beastie Boys members Jam Master Jay, Adam Yauch and original RUN DMC producer Larry Smith. 

Released on the anniversary of Jam Master Jays passing, this is a not for profit project and 100% of revenue raised from the release will be donated back to the Jam Master Jay and Adam Yauch foundations to further the legacy they created and invest in future music and community projects the foundations are supporting. Particularly music projects for youth.

Rest in peace Jam Master Jay, MCA & Larry Smith.

Qdup 2016 Funk Parade Mix

Here it is! Qdup’s promo mix for the third annual DC Funk Parade and it’s primed to get your ready to Roll Your Funk at this years parade. It includes a premier of the forthcoming Fort Knox Five tune “Don’t Go feat. Joe Quarterman” which is a collaboration that came out of the preparations for this years parade. It is set to be released Friday May 6th  2016; just in time for the festivities. Washington, DC native Joe Quarterman had his first hit “So Much Trouble On My Mind” in 1973, an instant funk classic that was part of the capital city's red hot 70s funk scene. Qdup’s DJ mix embodies that timeless funk that is still rocking over 40 years later. It features Public Service announcements from Rare Essence, Kokayi, Rufus Roundtree, Empresarios & Congo Sanchez straight from the heart of the Mothership on DC’s U Street, letting you know about the Funk Parade!

From the creative mind of Qdup, his new Party Platters series is serving up hot, fresh artisan beats for the dance floor. We’ve been cooking it all up with soul, so leave any bad vibes a preconceived notions of tempos and genres behind and dig into the delicious flavor.

Qdup is flying high into 2019 after continuing his string of original singles on Washington, DC’s Fort Knox Recordings. He also found himself engineering and producing a Vocal Sample Pack along with conscious party MC EVeryman that was released earlier in 2019 with Canada’s Black Octopus Sound. His DJ touring kept him busy last year including DJ sets at Shamhala Music Festival & Bass Coast (Four Deck Set with Fort Knox Five), Motion Notion and Joshua Tree Music Festival (DJ Performance with EVeryman). 2019 looks to be a good year as Qdup has been hard at work cooking up new beats to bring to you. 

First up for Party Platters Vol. 1, “Love Rap Thang” is a strong Disco Break that is like a 70’s Soul Train Line and a classic Hip Hop MC got together and made a love child. Qdup’s beats and bass marry the classic party rap vibe with new school production prowess that really hits a sound system right. This will get the party moving! As the name suggests, “Funk Over Here” has all the funk in the trunk to make the bass bins bump. It’s infectious bass line and call and response vocal chants will have the dance floor saying “Hell Yeah”. Pure vibes! Jason Brown is Qdup, and has been making dance floors groove and butts move worldwide for over a decade. Now residing in Los Angeles, CA the Wasington DC area native brings DC Funk vibes along with West Coast Festival Sensibility to the dance floor. Over the years, Qdup has released top selling tunes and remixes on many well received labels from all over the world including Bombstrikes, Fort Knox Recordings, Goodgroove, Air, ESL Music, Royal Soul, Super Hi-Fi, MustBeat and his own Qdup Records imprint. 

Qdup has had a steady string of acclaimed original releases with Washington, DC’s Fort Knox Recordings since 2013. His tunes have consistently made it into top 20 charts in the Glitch Hop, Funk and Breaks Genres on Beatport and Juno Download. From earning a nomination for a Washington Area Music Award for Hop Hop Recording of the year in 2013, to garnering Mixag’s “Breaks tune of the Month in October 2014, to coverage on some of the web’s hottest taste making blogs like Magnetic Mag, Surviving the Golden Age, Life Support Machine, Dance MusicNW and EDM Sauce; Qdup’s projects have consistently been praised by funky dance music aficionados world wide. Qdup has also gained a following dropping his secret weapon DJ tunes to the masses as free downloads.

Qdup broke out as a DJ on North America’s festival scene from 20012-17 including memorable sets at Shambhala Music Festival (BC, Canada), Firefly Fest (DE, USA), Art Outside (TX, USA), Gathering of the Vibes (Ct, USA), BassCoast (Merritt, Canada), Boogaloo (CA, USA) and P.E.X. (MD, USA). Late 2015 to 2016 saw Qdup join forces with longtime collaborator and label mate Steve Raskin of Fort Knox Five in a steady string of gigs performing their unique Four Deck Set. They’ve had a busy schedule with tours up on both coasts of the states, Colorado and Montana & have frequented Canada’s west coast BC and Alberta. Their touring included a festival run with Canadian favorite’s Shambhala (Salmo, Canada) & BassCoast (Merrit, Canada) and adding events like Sonic Bloom (CO), Northern Nights (CA, USA) and Burning Man (NV, USA). 
When not on tour, Qdup has played regularly at DC hot spots like Eighteenth Street Lounge, U-Street Music hall and Tropicalia where he along with Fort Knox Five have held their residency “Sao Funky” for 4 years. Qdup has also made the official promotional mix tapes for The DC Funk Parade 3 years running, further solidifying himself as one of DC’s most sought after party rockers. Since relocated to Los Angeles, Qdup has continued this trend frequently playing at some of LA’s best underground warehouse and festival venues.
