After Kenny Beeper and Fort Knox Five transformed Tha Fun Police ft Claire G’s “My Nikes” into a party rocking hip hop funk anthem, they passed it on to a few producers to pump up the tune and transform it into some proper dance floor bangers. Kenny Beeper reached out to fellow Aussies Crazy Daylight and Swim INC, and then tapped the ever so funky Stabfinger from Venice, Italy to get in on the action. While the original is a straight ahead hip-hop meets electro-funk fusion, the remixes take “My Nikes” into all new territory, so lace up your sneakers and get ready to dance.
First up is Crazy Daylight who adds epic builds, glitched out twists and turns, pumping up the track into a Bass House monster complete with helium vocals and dubbed out hooks. Crazy Daylight has made a name for himself by mixing big bass lines with house and tech, combining elements of funk and vocoder vocals. Play this one loud on a big system and nobody will be able to resist dancing, to the infectious vibe of this remix.
Next up is Stabfinger who amps the tune up, alternating between a swinging breakbeat and booming four four drums, topping his mix with some killer effects, horn riffs, timestretched vocals and some crisp percussion. The result is nothing short of a funky house barnstormer that is sure to get even the most jaded fan moving to the beat.
Closing out this trio of remixes is Swim INC, with a glitch hop meets trap influenced bass Kraken from the deep complete with ‘nuf dubstep production flourishes to make your knees weak. This is a heavy track for bass heads who like to feel that womp in their chest. Just as it hits hard, the piano breakdowns bring the listener back from orbit, taking us on a bizarre ride to the dark side of “My Nikes”. Be careful with this one, it will do damage to your speakers if you crank it too loud!
These three remixes have something for anyone who wants to drop it hard on the dance floor and are guaranteed to bring the heat.

Getting the chance to record in the studio with soul legend Sir Joe Quarterman was one of the highlights of the year for Fort Knox Five, and the track Don't Go became an instant funk classic. As soon as the single was released, we heard from some of our close friends who were eager to rework the track and we are proud to present these two fine remixes from K+Lab and Trotter. 

First up is New Zealand's own K+Lab, who brings live synths and keys to the forefront on his glitched out funky bass remix. The original vocals and horns are layered on top of his beefed up beats and heavy bass stabs. This remix takes the soul of the original and injects it with a heavy dose of modern glitched out funk transforming it into a dancefloor scorcher. 

Not to be outdone is Trotter, our man in Sao Paulo, who strips out the original's retro funk feel replacing it with a swinging future funk vibe. Bouncing and bubbling synth lines run throughout the remix, dominating the track to create a modern P-Funk groove. Trotter's remix shows his versatile production skills by tweaking the old school flavor of the original track and bringing it into the new millennium. 

Fort Knox Recordings is stoked to start the new year with a bang, enlisting two fantastic artists who delivered their debut Fort Knox Five remixes on this single. These remixes take the track in two distinct directions; glitch-hop and future funk, however they both follow Sir Joe's advice, “Step back three times, aww turn it around!” Instrumental version of both tracks are also available, making this a must have for funk DJs across the globe.

Don't Go ft. Joe Quarterman (K+Lab Remix)

It’s apparent how much fun Qdup and EVeryman had while writing the lyrics for Joyride. They were on tour driving between gigs and pulled inspiration for being on a Joyride to the party. For these remixes, Qdup commissioned a few good friends to hop in the whip and reimagine the ride. First up is old friend and fellow Washington, DC native Wes Smith who relocated to San Diego, CA. Rusty Cravers is the new Future House side project of Vancouver’s Wood n Soo who are good friends from western Canada and part of the Danio Management family.

You may know Wes Smith from his releases on Punks Music and his own Juice Recordings imprint, Wes has really made a name for himself in recent years with his remixes and original production. This is the second Wes Smith Remix on Fort Knox Recordings, and his musical diversity shines well on this remix as he pumps up the tempo to a Jacking Funky House vibe. Wes Smith let EVeryman’s lyrics lead the track and drops a huge 808 fueled breaks breakdown in the middle which is sure to set the dance floor ablaze!

Rusty Cravers push the tempo up as well and remixed Joyride into a bass-driven Future House banger destined to wreck dance floors worldwide. Laden with infectious dark keyboard leads and more dubbed out vocals let their clean production style come through. Huge horn stabs push a driving house beat and a devastating sub bass that can flex any sound system set the tone for their trip to the party!

‘Sup comrades! - This is our submission for the BassGorilla Remix Comp. 

We’ve been busy in the Liberty Capsule working hard on this remix non-stop for the past week. 

We’ve been following both BassGorilla and Slynk for a while now, and we’ve learnt so much from the tutorials it would be rude not to give it a go! 

By no means do we expect to actually win this competition due to all of the fierce competition and the high level of genuine talent we’ve seen in the Facebook group and SoundCloud submissions. We just decided to stretch ourselves and thought this would be a great opportunity for a challenge, and to get something solid finished within the short deadline. That said, we think we’ve managed to make a half-decent job of “Gorilla on the Floor” and put our unique spin on it. 

Big ups to Luke and others @ BassGorilla for the opportunity - and good luck to all of the other participants!

While good ol’ Mr S’s first release was s̶e̶m̶e̶n̶a̶l̶ seminal in the funky breaks scene, he’s spent the past two years honing his skills, style, and bone to produce these five tracks so undeniably funky that dance floors around the globe are about to blow their load.

Jason Brown is Qdup, and has been making dance floors groove and butts move worldwide for over a decade. They’ve had a busy schedule with tours up on both coasts of the states, Colorado and Montana & have frequented Canada’s west coast BC and Alberta. Their touring included a festival run with Canadian favorite’s Shambhala (Salmo, Canada) & BassCoast (Merrit, Canada) and adding events like Sonic Bloom (CO), Northern Nights (CA, USA) and Burning Man (NV, USA). 
When not on tour, Qdup has played regularly at DC hot spots like Eighteenth Street Lounge, U-Street Music hall and Tropicalia where he along with Fort Knox Five have held their residency “Sao Funky” for 4 years. Qdup has also made the official promotional mix tapes for The DC Funk Parade 3 years running, further solidifying himself as one of DC’s most sought after party rockers. Since relocated to Los Angeles, Qdup has continued this trend frequently playing at some of LA’s best underground warehouse and festival venues.
