Post-punk provocateur Autumns has been catapulting angular weapons over the ramparts since 2014…

Carving out a fierce reputation across labels like Downwards, Opal Tapes, iDEAL Recordings and DKA Records. Christian Donaghey’s relentless live show has seen him tour worldwide alongside Veronica Vasicka, Silent Servant, and Wire, delivering workouts that pummel those lower frequencies into submission.

 
Now, as he joins Ransom Note with the ferocious EP ‘Through the Construction of Grace’ EP, the “lanky, ginger man from Derry” offers up a mix that captures his intuitive approach to music-making. Recorded in his bedroom, it’s a journey through the sounds that have shaped Autumns’ “awful attempts at ripping off every bit of music that I like” from DJ Hell & Alan Vega collaborations to deep Post-Punk in Dub territory.

It’s confusing, distorted vocals and atonal blasts that taste like marmalade, and moves with the scrappy resourcefulness of a raccoon.

As we venture into the 19th edition of The Frontier we are excited to welcome an Artist and label owner that we’ve been fans of for a long time - The Belfast-based DJ and founder of Computer Controlled Records - Nez 

Over the past 2 decades, he’s carved out a distinct voice in the underground scene, both as a selector and as a curator, driven by a deep respect for the roots of electronic music and a hunger for its future possibilities. 

Known for intense, tightly crafted sets, Nez brings an uncompromising approach to the dancefloor. His selections speak to years spent digging, listening, and understanding how music moves people physically and emotionally. There's a clarity of intent in his sets: no gimmicks, no trend-chasing, just pure, high-voltage energy built for dark rooms and late hours.

Through Computer Controlled Records, he’s released music from like-minded artists who share a passion for hardware-driven sound and DIY ethos. The label has become a trusted outlet for heads seeking depth and authenticity, reflecting Nez’s commitment to keeping the underground alive and vital.

Outside the booth and studio, Nez remains active in the Belfast scene, supporting local talent, hosting events, and helping build a space where music can thrive on its own terms. Whether he’s playing to a packed club or championing a new artist, the goal stays the same: to serve the music and the people who live for it.

For his Frontier mix Nez has delivered an hour and 40 minutes of his usual full throttle style, heads down, dance-floor orientated pumpers. This is definitely one that will require some dancing shoes.

Here it is, ready and served: my classic musical farewell to each year. This set was originally broadcast on my colleague DJOU's show, A Long Strange Dream, on Radio Plato. Unfortunately, Radio Plato was unfairly censored by the Belarusian authorities, so I took it upon myself to honor him and release the set as Au Revoir 2025. 

Thanks to Radio Plato and DJOU for their broadcasts and for supporting the global underground scene. It was my honor to have participated three times.

Ho, ho, ho !!! Our pre X-Mass episode is dedicated to Orbital Mechanics, Electro label founded in 2021 by JDSK and well known Maltese music producer Keith Farrugia aka Sound Synthesis. As winter approaches and daylight slips away a little earlier each day, the comfort of staying indoors with something warm to sip and music gently filling the room becomes especially appealing. For this round, we’re featuring a guest mix by Sebastiano Effe — a selection that radiates a calm, inviting warmth.

Self-taught multi-instrumentalist. After several musical projects over the course of 35 years, "The Barrier Of Solitude" (Seven Villas, 2020) was his first solo album released under his own name. Effe usually draws inspiration from facts and situations that are not strictly related to music (books, movies, places, people, life and art in general etc - you get it) although he greatly appreciates the work of Brian Eno, William Basinski, Lawrence English, Taylor Deupree, Tim Hecker and many others in the field of the so-called ambient music (or drone music, or experimental music, or musique concrète, or whatever it is). Time, memory, what is real and what is perceived and the silent zones in between are all fascinating themes for Effe to explore through his sonic architectures, but it's better to leave an in-depth reasoning about this creative process and focus instead on the simple act of listening to his music and making up your own mind. "They, Whom The Gods Want To Destroy" (Seven Villas, 2024) and "Planeshifter" (Seven Villas, 2025) are his second and third albums respectively. Endless gratitude for your listening and support.
