After scouring the 4 corners of the globe for discerning house music talent via our first Quantize Recordings Remix Competition, we’re proud to unveil the winning entry from the South African production duo SoulLab.
Remixing an unmistakable heavy-weight vocal track is no easy feat, but the SoulLab guys hit the spot perfectly with their sweet yet bumpin’ Afro interpretation of  Sebb & Tasha Larae’s beautiful recording ‘Never Be Alone’.
Laced with sweet keys, warm-licked bassy undertones & a whole heap of late night schmoozing rhythms, this is most definitely a worthy winner and a perfect backdrop for hazy, lazy summer evenings.

Rhobodub worked at the first Ukrainian vinyl shop Diskultura and was a part of the Kyiv house scene. Then Thommy moved to L’viv where became a member of the Hypnohouse parties. For his career, Rhobodub performed in 14 countries.

Nowadays, Thommy lives in Chernivtsi—the most architecturally graceful city in Ukraine—manages the Hustlers community and floats down through various dimensions of music: deep, minimal, afro, soulful and funky house; deep, dub, minimal tech house and techno; techstep, dubwise, liquid and soulful drum & bass; minimal dub, digital dancehall, roots reggae, etc.

While searching the radio dial for music that moved my friends and me, in the late '80's we discovered 98.7 Kiss FM, home of DJs like Tony Humphries, and telecasts from Tunnel and Zanzibar.

Inspired by the greats, I spent many an afternoon riding my 10-speed to the local record stores, flipping through stacks of vinyl, hoping to match titles to sounds I'd heard on the radio or the dance floor, and then add to my crates. Though formats have changed many times since, I've held onto some favorites and still treasure an autographed Adeva record, "WARNING!" from back in the day.

Countless forays into NYC found us at Tunnel, of course, and at Limelight, The Building, Red Zone, Palladium, Danceteria, Love, and Club Shelter, likely the most influential venues for experiencing music that spoke to my soul.

Since those days, I have continued to follow my favorite producers and DJs and have dabbled into music production myself, some of which I hope to share soon!
