EP in the making

A small freebie for you lovely people.  A simple song I wrote a while back about heartbreak and moving on.

Here are the lyrics:

If my heart was a lake,
It'd be draining so slowly
With no rains to return
Its banks back to life.

The sun bakes the small sea
And the bed laid bare

If My Heart Was a Lake

I wrote this one during a long spell at sea, whilst exploring a memory I had of a camping trip in France with someone I once loved.  My typical week isn't so chilled...

The first day was chartreuse.
Tuesday was too sweet.
Thursday felt felt-like
Like blow-dried cotton wool.

O the days will move how
They start to speed up and slow down.

Friday looked too smug
On its marble pedestal.
Sunday echoed softly 
Like a bird on Lake Baikal.

Like plump cats
Her day sat
On no legs.
Saturday.

Called lazily in French to
Wake you, "c'est mercredi"

C'est Mercredi.
