Louise Chen has been cutting her teeth as a DJ and promoter since the start of the 10s and has steadily been building her reputation as a keen record digger and club DJ with impeccable timing.

The Taiwanese-French artist uses her radio shows on NTS, The Lot and Rinse France to showcase the breadth of her taste, deploying a 'soul tearjerkers' special here and a 100 per cent gospel set there, as well as inviting guests like Mafalda and The Patchouli Brothers.

As she showed us last year, she brings only the finest-quality heat to the club with sets that invigorate dancefloors and radiate pure energy. The same goes for her tracks, as her burgeoning production career testifies.

Love Machine

Pretty much one year ago, I gave in to the urge to pull all my best Gospel records together and make a Gospel Tape to be published right before the holy night. I am not religious albeit spiritual. I am not much into Christmas jams, but I dig the Gospel. And I have my own personal story with Jesus that I might share one day but if you've read Paulo Coelo - The Fifth Mountain, there are certainly paralells. 
Nowadays I believe in the positive ideas of religion that can uplift the spirit. 

But what I am really interested in is Gospel Music. 

These records are like colours to me. Many people are used to experience the same colours over and over again. While there is so much more music to love and fall in love with. Use it as a gateway into other universes. I ve tried that with my twitch series earlier this year. Together we ve just listened through my record collection and we hardly listened to a song twice. I want to shout out Zoe, Jayne, Zuzi, Oria, Angel, Keta, Kelly, Frankie, Josh, Brian, Johnny and many others and Special thanks to Chris and Rob for introducing me to the platform and carrying me through the process. Despite the digital aspect it has been a wonderfully human experience on many levels. 

Thanks for listening and have beautiful holidays, no matter what faith you have or not have. I believe in life as the most precious entity that connects us all.

セッションをメインに活動し、シーンの外にいたアナログシンセシストのHarvey Sutherlandはカセットテープを手に持ってメルボルンのアンダーグラウンドシーンから現れた。2013年、メルボルンのThis Thing Recordsより『Low Attitude』をMike Kay名義でリリース。2014年、HarveySutherland名義で、This Thing Recordsよりカセットテープ『Nexus』をリリース。さらに同年、ギリシャのEchovolt Recordsより『EDGES EP』とメルボルンのVoyage Recordingsからの『Brothers EP』により、ダンスフロアの熱狂的なファンを得た。これまでに、People’s Potential Unlimited、Plastic WorldやVoltaire Recordsからも自身の楽曲やリミックスなどの作品をリリース。Bradley Zero、Tom Noble、Motor City Drum Ensembleなどのサポートを受けている。2015年には、FACT Magazine「Australian Electronic Artists to Watch in 2015」 の一人としても名前を挙げられていて、同年5月にヨーロッパでの11日間に及ぶのクラブでのツアーを果たした。そして、Motor City Drum EnsembleのレーベルMCDE Recordingsから『Bermuda EP』をリリース。レーベルのテイストをもっとも反映したEPとなっている。彼のフリースタイルのライブは、Juno60シンセサイザーをコントロールをしながら、新しいフレーズやモジュレーションのループを構築した電子音のブギーの冒険ともいえる。

―収録した場所はどこですか？

現在滞在中のイギリス・ブライトンのホテルで収録しました。


―ミックスのコンセプトを教えてください。

とくにコンセプトはありませんが、最近よく聴いている楽曲を使用しました。ポストパンクだったり、少し変なファンクだったり、ドラムの面白い曲やパーカッションの曲だったりが最近のお気に入りです。


―日本の印象について教えてください。

日本は好きな国のひとつで、ここ何年かは年に１度は訪問してます。日本で初めてライブを行うことができて、すごく楽しみにしてます。


―今後の予定を教えてください。

今年中にリリース予定の12インチを現在制作しています。7～8月には自分のバンド、Bermudaでのヨーロッパツアーを予定しているので、アジアの国でも実現できるといいですね。

He’s the DJ/producer behind Deep Tenor City and an avid collector of boogie, fusion, funk, house and roots reggae for over 20 years. Normally he’s found dropping genre-busting vibes on dance floors and DJ bars all over: on his long-standing Deep Tenor City show on Soho Radio, as a playlister, and promoter of his producer/musician friends.

He’s released 3 EPs including Oba and Fireheart on BBE, and 3 7” reworks on GAMM as PPA that feature in his Bside Podcast. Stand by for the next release from Deep Tenor City People. By day you’ll find him teaching at uni in London.
