A Dance With The Clouds

We recorded this album in our producer’s bedroom, driven by the tragic death of one of our own. On December 3rd, 2010 we lost our dear friend and my love, Jessica Hoke, to a freak accident. Instead of simply wallowing in grief we chose to take that pain and produce something passionate. We created a world without pain (or did we?), a wonderful place where even a jaded adult could bask in the bliss of a child at a theme park. Whiskeyland. This album is a roller coaster ride through that place. Songs like Silent Girl or Doomsday provide additional twists and turns to the brightness that is Catalina or Say Whatever, giving the listener a glimpse into the darkness and desolation that often juxtaposes our joy and fulfillment. 

To say that I am excited to share this music with you would be an understatement. Standing outside of that hospital, the love of my life on her deathbed, I was surrounded by the same guys who came together to make this album. We promised that whatever was next for us as a band we would take seriously, and take on together. We swore we would make something special. A project to be proud of, to be sure. I lost my heart that day, and along with her my life. The process of writing and recording this record with these guys has served as my rebirth, and for that I am eternally grateful. - Feekee

Good music trumps stereotypes. Good music transcends tragedy. The songs are lyrics born from pain and musical production from progress.The synergy of Hip Hop inspired vocals with guitar solos reminiscent of your favorite outdoor festival informs The Flux’s sound. Feekee, a rapper influenced by the likes of Nas and the Notorious B.I.G., is the lead vocalist. Tombot 5000 is an Indie Rock vocalist and lead guitarist. Sum Difference is a multifaceted artist, with a soulful R&B voice, dexterous rap flow, and experimental production skills. The quartet is polished and perfected by Rudeluv, the main producer of the project as well as the band’s percussionist. Creating an authentic blend of hip-hop and alternative rock with a touch of electro-soul, The Flux is carving out their own niche in today’s ever changing world.

This one came out on "Treats Vol.4" and its the first track of a new project with multi-instrumentalist Jules Etienne (one of Berlin's best kept musical secrets). The info sheet goes like this: "The Hints prefer an old school approach to making music, so apart from the mpc beat and sampled vocal, all the instruments have been played live by Q & J on the 110 bpm Boogie monster that is Downtown: liquid Pianet chords, Poly 61 stabs, a killer bassline, dramatic organ layers, live (and loose) percussion and even a quick trumpet melody! The groove is tight and could go on for hours but the Hints like to come up with new chords so we’re treated with a wonderful bridge that appears twice in the song. The Hints also love to keep things short and sweet, so Downtown stays under the 6-minute mark but leaves a fulfilling impression."

GRMLN - Night Racer

They say nothing gets lost on the internet but for some reason this decade-old mix seems to have fully disappeared from all portals... so when someone recently reached out via Facebook and told me that he would like to listen to it "again during quarantine", I thought it would be the perfect excuse to finally upload that mix on my own page.
Back in 2009, I recorded this selection for Mono_Cult, a cool and dedicated crew from Leeds who were running parties and a podcast series. The series had a strictly "no playlist" policy and I remember getting quite a few "Track ID?" requests via mail or myspace (LOL) when the mix was published... let's see if it's still the case now!
