track monster sounding package. ‘Subsonic EP’ brings you four beautiful new tracks 
from the pair behind such weighty mixes as Mr Blonde and Time to Burn. 
Midlands production duo Mike and Lee are consistently at the top of their game 
and ‘Subsonic’ is no exception. 
The tracks all have that trademark style and sound combining drumstep with other styles, 
and beats so confusing they can only mean dancefloor euphoria. 
‘Subsonic’, ‘Speakerfreaker’, ‘On your Own’ and ‘Locutus’ are the four tracks on everyone's mind. 
Each brings a different asset to any Djs set list and each of these tracks showcase their heavy grimy 
bass and quick beat perfection, in turn infused with synth and haunting robotic vocals.

After a 2-year hiatus from the mothership, Kim Brown return to Just Another Beat with a new 12“, including the brand-new track “Visiona 1970“ and an exceptionally impressive remix of “Nabi“, one of the outstanding tracks off their debut album “Somewhere Else It’s Going To be Good“, beautifully executed by Quarion.

It was Quarion aka Yanneck Salvo himself who approached the Berlin-based duo, being eager to work on his own version of the track and taking it to the next level. The result equals en epic transformation. Using only the key melodic elements of the rather quiet and lush original, Quarion’s version is much more than a remix. It’s more like a cover version, showcasing his own unique approach of how to first dismantle and then carefully, bit by bit, rebuild the peak time moment of the dancefloor. Clocking in at just under 10 minutes, to be enjoyed best from start to finish, this is a voyage extraordinaire.

On the flip, “Visiona 1970“ presents Kim Brown in a glistening rainbow of deep colours. With freely shuffling hi-hats, intimate percussion and some of their most beautiful melodies yet, this track marks a turning point for the project. Having mainly released remixes for other artists recently, Ji-Hun Kim and Julian Braun have been constantly working on a new album as well, which will finally see the light of day not long after the release of this EP. In the meantime, please enjoy these 2 tracks.

                  The track came out in January 08 on Future Classic, backed up with a Soultourist remix of "You're Out or In?". In other words, it's a Drumpoet release in disguise. The virus keeps spreading ;-)
                  Concerning my remix, I wanted something with more "ooomph" than my previous tracks...judge it for yourself, but I think this one is on a rave tip!

Thirteen years after Quarion released the instant classic "Karasu" on Drumpoet, he returns to the label with yet another remarkable debut. His first album "Shades" takes you on an emotional journey to the deeper realms of House Music encompassed by elements of Detroit
Techno, Dub and Electronica. All of the nine tracks fully display Quarion's unmistakable musicality and state-of-the-art production skills and are, undoubtedly, the artist's most accomplished work to date. Ever since starting to produce as Quarion back in 2006, Yanneck Salvo has enjoyed an exciting career with stellar releases on Retreat, Innervisions, Tamed Musiq and certainly Drumpoet. 2016 proved to be a turning point artistically as well as personally, which eventually triggered an outburst of inspiration consolidating in the core of "Shades". After two years spent on refining this music, Yanneck felt that the bond between the tracks was too strong to be split across various EPs and chose instead to elaborate his vision as a full-scale album. The nine pieces that make up “Shades“ are quintessential Quarion, yet their scope is both broader and more precise than on previous releases by the Swiss producer. The beautiful melancholy of “Indigo (Aries)”, the rich layers of “Periwinkle” or the panoramic journey of “Cobalt (Plains)” are testimonial to the new depth in the music of the Berlin-based artist.
In addition, the album has highly benefitted from a more experimental writing process, showcased in the bass-heavy ambient piece “Teal” or the sliding pads of “Ultramarine”. This passion for unrestrictive creativity is clearly at the heart of “Azure (Émotion)”, a thrilling collaboration with Ripperton where both artists twist life out of a modular system.
Finally there are tracks as intense as the Acid workout “Sapphire (Tessellate)“ and the techno-influenced “Cerulean“. Their electric tension easily creates a watershed moment on the dance floor that lingers long after the night is gone. An imperceptible thread lays within the album's tracks. It molds “Shades” into an outstanding
album by an artist on top of his game, highlighting Quarion's ever-growing talent for producing music of the deeper kind.

Exclusive Quarion 'Indigo (Aries)' 

Based in Zurich Drumpoet Community releases music detached from any trend or current hype and has exactly therefore gained a reputation beyond its hometown. Label-founders and fathers Ron Shiller and Alex Dallas always follow a strict yet open-minded label-philosophy releasing deep or melodic and forward-thinking music from artists - known or upcoming. And their concept has proven to be successful since Drumpoet Community has been existing for more than a decade. The latest release on the label comes from affiliated producer Quarion, whose first EP on DPC, 'Karasu', goes back to 2006. Now the Berlin based producer compiled his album 'Shades', which will see the light of day in a few days. Shortly before the release Torture the Artist had the chance to speak to Quarion about his (musical) career, producing music and much more.

Quarion's album 'Shades' will be released on Drumpoet Community on September 27th, 2019.

Shigeto - Detroit Part 1

At the beginning of January last year, Iron Curtis and I played a memorable all-nighter at Paloma Bar for which we decided to dig deep in our Broken Beat and Dubstep collection so that we could try to stay clear of the four to the floor. Of course, we ended up playing House and Techno as well :-)
This was a special night for multiple reasons, the most peculiar one being that this gig would turn out to be my last club performance before the pandemic...
This edit of the original 10-hour recording covers roughly the first four hours of our back 2 back. 
Special thanks to Finn and the Palomas for the invitation (and the recording!) and all the friends who showed up that night.
