Inescapable Mind with music by Quarkstrangenesscharm

A cover/remake of one of my favorite songs of all time. I made this as an inquiry into themes associated with my root chakra. I envisioned an empty desert at night, with me under a tree with bare branches. This image has accompanied me throughout my adolescence quite a lot, always as some sort of imaginary save haven, even though it feels like a place of great solitude. I hold a certain sense of melancholy and solitude very close to my heart, even though I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly, there is something in those states that is incredibly dear to me. Maybe it is because in this image - alone under a tree in a desert, endless horizons, the sky always waxing and waning between twighlight and night - there is a quality of peace, and absence of hostility and danger, that enables a part of me to be and unfold itself.
At the same time - this is where the double-edged-sword-likeness of the situation lies - I'm alone. I'm by myself. There is no one around. I - the part of myself in that imagination - perceive other people as a threat. Still I long for company.
But I need to be here - this is heaven, even though it hurts.
This song is that place, that feeling, that part of me, made audible. This is what helps me connect to silence when I'm in the need of solitude. This helps me to accept that part of me, so it too may find true peace and love one day. This is what aids me in transforming the loneliness and sadness I hold. Or in relating differently to the loneliness and sadness I hold.
I sincerely hope and wish, for those of you who can relate, that this song can offer something of similar importance.
Maybe we are together in solitude.

First of all, I want to thank the wonderful SinTaMental (https://soundcloud.com/sintamental), who kindly  recorded the words 23 October 2015 (and made some corrections on the way).

Basic recording (bassguitar and sampler) was done somewhere in 2004, overdubs (guitar, synthesizer)were done 20 October 2015. Words were written on 30 July 2015.

I think you'll agree that she did a wonderful job! For words she chose a poem by Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova, again an excellent choice!

How the night came (@howthenightcame) came up with the idea of making an album on Roman mythology (Ovid's great book Metamorphoses) and invited other artists to participate in the project. 
The results are very nice I think: 21 tracks based on his favourite stories, while collaborating with lovely artists like Hypoid (@hypoidsound, www.youtube.com/channel/UCc_iQ5JFusPt9EIwKIZ5rew) and Daniel Diaz (dedeland.com, @daniel-diaz) amongst others.

“Ovid stares at The Black Sea (Niobes return)” was the track I was asked to collaborate on. The story is about a woman who turns to stone: (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niobe)

Just "Takin' It Easy" while playing Breedlove Acoustic-Electric and decided to record Instrumental SongShot. Eagles-inspired insanity. ;-) For anyone that enjoys creating and sharing music, have fun and keep it real. Do your best, even when it's just sharing a simple contemporaneous mix of a song sketch or idea. Some will like it, some won't, so what? Next. Life is short. Be true to yourself. Nothing wrong with "promoting" certain projects and songs, but we all know Numbers are simply 'Just Numbers' and don't, necessarily, always define success on SoundCloud....or anywhere else, really. Herbie Hancock is one of my greatest musical inspirations, a giant of the 20th Century and still going strong.  This original composition Raindrops, is a look back at his playing in the mid '60s, when he was in his early 20s and playing and recording with the second legendary Miles Davis Quintet.  The ensemble was exploring modal jazz, pushing the boundaries of jazz harmony, taking things in and out of scales using chromatic dissonance, and setting the bar as high as it has ever been.  In this band, Herbie often used extended single note soloing, similar to Miles' trumpet or Wayne Shorter's tenor saxophone, creating a mood and image similar to Impressionism in art.
