musclecars, composed of Craig Handfield & Brandon Weems, are staples in NYC’s House scene and beyond, through their party-turned-label Coloring Lessons, effervescent sets on The Lot Radio, and increasingly acclaimed productions. Following a series of releases on both their Coloring Lessons and toucan sounds, their newest offering, ‘Shelter (Building It, Still)’ burrows deeper into their love of grooving, soulful sounds, featuring a remix from Prescription co-founder Ron Trent.

Opening the release, ‘Prelude (Building It, Still) sees the duo combine gorgeous piano licks and intimate field recordings for a moving start to the EP. ‘Shelter’, which features vocalist and previous collaborator Brandon Markell Holmes follows, brings together propulsive synths and knocking drum work alongside Holmes’ captivating vocal performance.

‘We Go Home Together’ is a slab of beautiful deep house, bringing emotive saxophones, shuffling drums, and dreamlike pads together effortlessly for over seven blissful minutes. Closing out the EP is Ron Trent’s energetic remix of ‘Shelter’, which sees the veteran inject bouncing basslines, swinging percussion, and an evolving arrangement to the original track.

This new release from HELP presents music from various HELP-related artists. Another release from the Århus-imprint that doesn’t directly state “club-proof”, but still, this one wouldn’t mind having a spin or two by your local dance-pusher. The opening track is by Central; a fresh house tune with both melodies and good-vibes - maybe the closest this young man has come to making an anthem. Next up is the 4 piece group Maizena with a ambiguous rhythmical ambient-house jam from the area of Denmark where it rains the least. On the B-side you’ll find a raw and to the point recording of DJ Sports and C.K joining PH1 in his throwback techno-studio in the suburbs of Århus. Next up is the long awaited debut from Manmade Deejay, who has been cooking a floating rhythm jam for this 5 course meal of modern danish cuisine. Last but not least Amsterdam-based KAAP joined Central on a fine day at Rubber Studios to create this dreamy and galloping ride.  All in all this genuine piece of wax if filled with local devotion and love from the HELP-crew. After three major releases by Tell, Nachtbraker and S3A, it's now time to debut Italian artist Verner to round off our beloved Trophy Quartet.

This Milanese keys virtuoso is ready to blow your mind with this eccentric yet humble EP, taking you on a sincere emotional journey. Long stretched pads, playful chord progressions, organic percussion all produced with analog 70’s and 80’s vintage synthesizers and drum computers in Verner’s studio reminding us of a style reminiscent of Harvey Sutherland and Nu Guinea. We’re talking groove, funk, jazz but also house and soundtrack-style composition which together form a very complete record carefully A&R’d by Nachtbraker.

Drop the needle on the A side and you’ll start off with L’inizio which is a majestic piece of synthwork. Hurdling through different emotions and feelings, this could easily be the intro of one of your favourite 80’s TV
series. Upset then takes you on a happy, groovy tour whilst Crash of the Web Era and The Motion Pictures take us on a trippy and ambient voyage that is hard to wake up from.

When flipping the record to the B side, Verner is stepping back into groove and funk with Tecladista, arguably the dance floor ready hit of this debut EP. Starting of with again a majestic synth intro, Area drops into a festive funk and jazz bomb with some intricate synth work treating us to some lovely solos. Closing this versatile EP is Late Night Job, a deep, deep tune with a thriving baseline and mesmerising synths.
We suggest to don’t sleep on this one and have a listen to this piece of art by the very talented Verner...
