Finally after almost a year Quenya Projects releases a new song again, this version is a tribute too Enya, and we wanted to cover her latest single “Even in the Shadows”.
First Matt and John made a instrumental version until we were completely satisfied, then we wanted to find the right singer, but that was a lot harder then we expected, especially because of all harmonies and weird attacks involved in this song.
We already made a wonderful song together with Daphne Braaksma in the past, so we asked her if she wanted and could do it, and she immediately accepted the invitation.
After all her recordings / tracks were cleaned and synced with all harmonies we also created with the instruments (which took a lot of time), we continued making / sending new recordings back and forth till we were all satisfied with this final mix.
This project shows and proofs to me how much talents are within the SC community, and we’re certainly looking forward doing more songs in the style of Enya, Secret Garden and ERA, covers and originals. Making NewAge music is always the goal of Quenya Projects, to let talents collaborate with each other.

Technical structure of the song:
The most difficult thing to sing this song is the fact that none of the 4 points of attack (sync points) are the same, this song contains 4 points of attack, 3 of them are done by Cello’s, bass drum and the Piano, the 4th is the solo voice, we included the specific melody line for the solo voice in our initial instrumental version so she could hear how it needed to be sang, the harmonies are slightly off as well and tend to follow the cello’s.
When we received all tracks from Daphne, we dropped all melody tracks from the project, and replaced them with her vocal tracks, then I had to make sure that her harmonies stayed in sync with the cello’s so with a lot of cutting and multi layering I was able to get all the tracks to sound as one as much as possible.
We had no intention to make Daphne sound like Enya, we still wanted to keep our own signature, so we didn’t use very much effects at all, the main thing was to clean her tracks from mic-plops and background noices, so mostly what you hear is what I received from Matt and Daphne, I only made some slight changes, and added / multi layered some instruments, and created an extra ALT voice to carry / support her voice.
I am very proud of the performance of, and working together with Matt Baker and Daphne Braaksma, their great talents and skills makes creating and producing music a real treat and fun to do for me, and I am sincerely looking forward doing more songs with them, it does motivates me to continue, cheers John.

Hi, welcome to my little music blog!
It all started back in middle school. During breaks between classes we would send each other music on our phones with infrared and bluetooth. First it was all pop and rock music, but soon I found out about dubstep and drum and bass. It changed everything for me. I had many mp3 players and ipods full of music. I started going to raves and music festivals. I enjoyed some house, hiphop, techno and even psytrance. It's been a journey and after many years I am still so excited to hear new beats and melodies. I've been constantly reposting my favourite tunes for everyone to enjoy with me! Music just makes me so happy and I am glad if I can make you happy too! Besides partying I listen to music while at work, at home, on the streets or in gym. Basically all the time.
Most of all, I love drum and bass. Mainstream, liquid, rollers, jump up, neuro, jungle... you name it. I have dug deep into the world of drum and bass. This page probably has over 10,000 drum and bass tracks reposted by me that I really enjoyed. A few years ago, my friend invited me to a festival in Belgium, and I fell in love with heavy dubstep. After that, for 2 years straight, I was obsessed with it and even made another page for reposting. I found out about genres like riddim, wave, and trap. At one point I didn't want to know anything about it and deleted the page! Right now this is the only page I use. Maybe one day I will return to drum and bass, but lately I've been feeling crazy and reposting other stuff too. I love good music; I don't care what you call it, and I love to find inspiration in different genres.
For some time I was really into deep house. I love to shuffle (dance). I don't mind some bass house. Slap house? I love that. Club house, G-house, melodic house, electro house, progressive house, and yes, even tech house... whatever. I love house music!
I love big festival music like trap and hardstyle, but I also know what underground techno means. I love hardcore, and sometimes I love chillout.
