Beirut, Lebanon...  it was the early 1980's, yet it could be yesterday, even the days to come...  a young, beautiful woman lies tanning on a beach chair, the missile-pocked and bullet-riddled facades of the bleach-white hotels in the background...  "Forget this country...", she said "...forever...".

Once aged-out and replaced, crushed by possessions, by wealth, by comfort, inexorably shifting to the right, now reactionaries, demanding protection from those who want what we have.  So it has been, so it is, so it will be...
