@forestonstasys (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Argentinian artist Forest on Stasys takes us on a deep exploration of organic and meditative sounds. Heavily inspired by tribal and minimalist techno, his mix is infused with atmospheric sounds, rhythmic percussions and continuous grooves. His sounds will guide you through a world of dub and deep techno, oscillating between contemplative sounds and entrancing beats which will make you temporarily escape into a natural realm.

Rotations Round 18: Patrin

@facta & @k-lone93 have been on a roll recently. Their Wisdom Teeth label has seen them put out not only excellent music from Tristan Arp, but also Facta's brilliant downtempo album Blush and K-Lone's recent Zissou EP. Both hail from London but are now Bristol-based and they mix up many of the different styles you'd expect from those two musical hotbeds. Everything from 2-step to Baltimore, post-dubstep to deep house gets distilled into their sets and productions, but always with well-swung drums and high-pressure bass. 

The pair kick off the New Year for us with a nimble mix that moves smoothly through glossy house depths, stripped-back broken beats and elastic rhythms. There is always a rich layer of percussion, sweet vocal or elegant melody burrowing deep into your brain while the beats keep your body happy. It's a perfectly persuasive listen that eases you off the sofa and back to the dance floor in no time.

Wiggly, spellbinding sounds for number sixty seven from Montreal based NAP (@napmusick) aka Daniel Rincón. 

The talented Colombian/ Canadian artist is known for his solo productions, as well as @ambien-baby alongside @d-tiffany, and La Fe, a collaboration between him and Michael Red. He also runs his own label, Isla (@sonidoisla). Through any respective alias or project, Daniel has an amazing array of eclectic  sounds on offer.

This mix is yet another showcase of his diverse and exciting musical taste. I'm so happy to have him as part of the series.

"Fan Club is an intimate community-focused celebration recurring quarterly on the solstices and equinoxes of each season. To usher in the new Spring (2019), we gathered in a modest structure in the forest near Silver Falls (Oregon). The fusion of energy provided by the fresh snow and impending Spring resulted in a night of mystical improvisation, becoming more hypnotic as the dark transformed into morning. This mix is a section of a near 4-hour recording using cdjs and turntables— diving into a fungi fueled trance that collages questionable tempos into new ‘scapes."

Forest Drive West goes deep on this contribution to Bleep’s mix series. While the blends here may move through a variety of tempos, this is an hour of music schooled in dub science and cloaked in thick, trippy textures. The first third of the mix sees Forest Drive West running at dancehall tempo, delivering ultra-heavy dubwise riddims which will delight anyone who’s dug the techno dancehall sound of labels like Gobstopper and Livity Sound in recent years. The mid-section takes the listener even deeper, dubbing out in the African Head Charge style, before Forest Drive West emerges with some thrilling experimental jungle in the mix’s second half.
