It’s a great pleasure to announce the first release from mexican duo 4004 & Sebastien Vorhaus. They might not run as fast as Speedy Gonzales, but their music is super hot, deep and raw! Yeah you know we like that at Quintessentials...... 4004 & Sebastien Vorhaus work together as well as solo and their work has already been signed by the almighty Faces Records (Pablo Valentino and MCDE). Plus they also set up their own label, Vicario Musique, so these are definitely names to watch. Viva Mexico!

There we go again. Finally, Cuthead returns with the long awaited follow-up to his “Brother EP”. His new record “Everlasting Sunday” surely fulfils some dreams as it is packed with no less than nine tracks. Three catchy House tunes on the A-Side and six Hip-Hop-jams on the B-side make for a very extended EP or a mini-album ... the choice is up to you!
Right at the beginning we start with the sample-heavy “Maputo Jam”, a tune in classical Cuthead-manner with its irresistible drumming full of stumbling blocks and layers of sweet synth-melodies. “Nautic Walking” is a straighter House track with a guitar line and clapping samples but that bass line quickly reminds you whom you’re listening to. “Minerals” starts off pretty deeply before evolving from a jazzy House affair into an almost orchestral tune with opulent strings.
The flipside is an extensive expression of Cuthead’s inexhaustible love for Hip-Hop. There is feel-good material like “Everlasting Sunday” and “Deep Shadows” as well as banging joints like “Calculator Watch” with all the typical Cuthead-trademarks: sick bass work, stammering drumming and imaginative sampling.

This special one off collaboration sees Berlin prodigy Max Graef, coupling with globe trotter Fantastic Man aka Mic Newman. With Mic living in Max's broom cupboard for a few vodka soaked weeks in Berlin last autumn, there was a beautiful inevitability that some music would outcome. The lead track "Soothe Me" is no noodly shrinking violet, but a grade 10-cross-genre-dance-floor-destroyer which Andy snapped up for label on first listen. Clearly taking it's inspiration from the Rhodes and sample drenched Sound Signature Detroit label and adding in live instrumentation, tape effects, for a track rich in Steely Dan sensibility, coupled with a sub bass and twisted lead line dragging us into a new year. The B-Side Relaxin' At The Flip is a raw slab of analogue goodness, flying 606 high hats, a tough kick drum and simple elements driving the track forwards, best heard 8am in a dark corner of a club.
