New mysterious heat from the R-Zone vaults!

The R Zone series excels at raw, inventive, off kilter club music from a range of mysterious artists. That fine tradition continues once more here with another four cuts of inventive music that takes cues from techno, IDM, acid and house. 

Lumidei is all wonky drums and out of time hits and is a brilliantly weird cut full of spacious atmospherics. Mynheer is built on a bed of broken beats, knocking hits and metallic textures that all tumble and fall around loosely and invitingly. Dédale d´or then takes you on a trip through the outer edges of the universe with rough hits and drums scraping out a groove as big, bold synth chords add an air of melancholy and finality to proceedings. Things close out with Skagerrak, a perfectly roughhewn drum track that is backed with sensuous synths and lots of cosmic moods. Arresting and compelling, this yet is another unique R Zone release that cannot fail to stand out in any DJ set.

Landscapes of dystopian worlds, both emotive and driving, unveil new forms of life here as Nightdrive’s “Miracles” LP travels through the far east regions of house and techno with this 10-track release. As this marks “Rough Cuts 02” for Too Rough 4 Radio, “Miracles” is as much a transcendent force of ethereal tunes as it is effective for any dancefloor. What you’ll uncover across this release from this St. Petersburg based producer is a traversing blend through IDM, Deep House, DnB, and Techno through the lens of lush, atmospheric soundscapes.

Late night moods waft through like the FM synth sweeps here on the track “Monster’s Lair.” This leading cut of the 10-track LP “Miracles” by Nightdrive on Germany’s TR4R label, plays on the balance of deep house melodies with an arpeggiated, Drexcyian-style lead that sets it on course for pure peak time play. 

The BPM is bumped up with this track “Rave To Sale,” and as the title suggests, there is no holding back in this breaky warehouse rave banger from Nightdrive. Rave energy throughout this number that will immediately fill any dancefloor, and adds yet another layer of depth on the dynamic “Miracles” LP, out on Too Rough 4 Radio. 

To find balance between the elements of IDM with club friendly momentum is at the crux of many producers these days, and “Shanghai Liaison” strikes at the core of this with confidence. Abstract yet melodic, shades of James Ferraro’s 2011 “Far Side Virtual” vibes are colored over a punishing kick and far eastern pads—all combined to make a versatile club thumper by Nightdrive. 

Nothing can be more hypnotic than a cruise through the sky expressway at night. “Dark & Blue” finds itself in the driver’s seat of this journey, as it pummels through shards of synth oscillation sweeps and radiant melodic house chords by the producer Nightdrive on his “Miracles” LP. 

Playful drum and bass jumps through the rave-like chords and cascading arpeggios in “Flaming Flowers on Mount Fuji.” With a colorful blend of styles and half-time head jacking, Nightdrive delivers the goods on this one, which is just one of ten cuts on his “Miracles” LP.

Throughout the “Miracles” LP, you’ll encounter dreamy landscapes, but it’s in this title track where you’ll encounter the full impact of Nightdrive’s release. It’s under this darkened yet glimmering ascendance of synth shadows that you find a moody club anthem that can leave one mesmerized in those cherished moments on the floor. 

At first listen, the Latin-influenced rhythms of “Maze” is enough to enchant this driving techno house blender, but it’s the following listens that can pay an even greater reward. Channeling mid-00’s Kompakt-era of melodic techno, Russian-based Nightdrive combines the bending synth stabs with crisp hi-hat spirals into dancefloor bliss. 
 
Bouncing arpeggios of both synth and yearning acapellas combine into a swirling mix of IDM and hypnotic techno that only Nightdrive could create. With polyrhythmic beats and distant far east keys, the track “B2B,” off of the “Miracles” LP, has flavors of the Bristol-based Batu and label Timedance, forged into a unique sound palate all his own.  

“Madcat” has all of the elements of an effective deep house track—piano chord flutterings, a grooving shuffled beat, and moody waves of melancholic transcendance. Nightdrive cultivates these elements into a uniquely powerful blend of Sound Signature aesthetics with dystopian sensibilities of both mystic and mesmerizing effects. 
 
A dusky, underground garage stepper of Nightdrive’s flourishing “Wonders” tune is as pumping as it is transformative by TR4R co-head Florian. Withholding the emotive drive in the original, the remix transforms into a pumping, late-night heater for those who are either looking to zone out in their own space or add color depth in their set—both equally effective.

R-Zone. Who is involved isn't exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. It is however irrelevant to the concept of R-Zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs; in the lap of the music.

The sounds exhibited across each track are fresh offerings that combine brightly coloured synths, swirling pads and non-standard beats into captivating and kaleidoscopic soundscapes that constantly evolve from start to finish. A cosmic, intergalactical energy pervades each release, transporting you to a world far away from here. The rest of the tell can be told by R-Zone themselves:

“Have you ever stood in a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere with complete strangers desperately looking for a party that may or may not exist? Have you ever wandered around a bombed out illegal warehouse rave at X in the morning on an E come-down?
