This Bom Shanka episode brings you PIEMAN and his "Lost in the Ladies Toilets" mix. Pieman is a core member of the legendary Tribe of Frog in Bristol and label manager of Broken Records, and is also signed to Bom Shanka. He has been pretending to play music since he got lost in the now famous Tesco "Ladies Toilets" incident and somehow gave birth to a typewriter during a party last year during lockdown. With a very "speshul" feel, his sets can be described as Maximal PsychedelicTrashPopDiscoFilth with dollops of full fat ice cream and wafers of random audio for good measure. He recently released his first compilation on Bom Shanka called "Double Strength Placebo" which came out when no-one was looking to maintain anonymity, and is frankly to be avoided unless you like music. For the future, Broken Records parties are going from strength to strength with its genre defying attitude to music and this year Tribe of Frog will be celebrating our 22nd birthday with a 6 room multi genre party! Morphing and adapting every year, this year he will be trying to focus on coffee toothpaste and custard pies.

Recording of my closing set from Rituals by Blackdrop Family played from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. It was an amazing experience to play a proper freestyle ritual starting from Forest (152bpm) building up to experimental blast (180bpm)which was my 1st time playing out a a selection of fast forest-experimental tracks & I enjoyed it a lot. Many thanks to BlackDrop Family for the opportunity and the amazing dancefloor for making it a memorable set! 🎶💯 Massive thanks to the artists for the killer tracks.. The Ostrava-based electronic duo Chryzotil 271 are releasing their debut album Mimikry, following their Bonsai EP (2024). R3JAL discovered psytrance in 2016, but it wasn't until 2019 that he attended his first party in the UK, fell in love with the scene, and began attending several gatherings.

By January 2020, he had acquired CDJs and began developing his abilities behind the decks, spreading his selection of music that take one on a journey through groovy woodlands. He joined UK psytrance label Enterrec six months later and is working on his first compilation. After a year of playing around UK, he got the opportunity to join Visionary Shamanics records and currently blasts their discography of forest, dark-prog and darkpsy.

Forest psytrance is mostly played ranging from 150 to 156 bpm, with twisted, atmospheric bending, groovy basslines, and each with its own tale. When not in the forest, he plays darkprog and darkpsy with the intention of creating his own style in the future.
