My special guest this week is Faz (aka Steve Farrell), a veteran DJ who first took to the decks in the late 90’s after discovering a love of house music through mix tapes and dancefloor adventures. He played regularly at small venues in the Chorley and Blackburn before taking break from DJing in the early 2000s

In 2012 he discovered disco heroes Greg Wilson and Dimitri from Paris, and this reignited his passion and got him firmly back behind the decks. Soon he became part of the “Edits Presents” team, a DJ collective and party crew with a reputation for throwing epic events across the North of England. At these events, Faz played alongside big names in the music world such as Joey Negro, Spen, Derek Kaye, James Holroyd and K-Klass. His various gigs brought him to bars and clubs in Manchester, Leeds, Halifax and more.

Faz describes his sound as being about “Disco, Re-edits, Energy and Fun”, and he has recently been streaming Live DJ sets, which you can find on his soundcloud page. Long sets are a speciality, and he can easily knock out a three hour killer set of grooves without breaking a sweat.

This week’s special guest is Steve Cooper, aka Downunder Disco, a DJ and Producer who is originally from the UK, but now lives on the East Coast of Australia (NSW). He has been producing outstanding music for several years now, with a distinctive sound that fuses disco and house. His tracks have been released on some of the UK and Europe’s leading records labels such as Hot Digits, Masterworks Music, Slightly Transformed, Spa in Disco and Golden Soul, and there are some sizzling tracks to be released this coming year. 

During the pandemic he has also been spreading his love of music with guest DJ mixes for radio shows around the globe, and has also started his own guest mix series for International artists.

Episode 45: Feel Good Friday Radio Show (special guests Uptown Funk)

This week's special guest is Stan Boogie, a Brighton-based DJ and producer whose sound is based upon 70s feels and nu-disco vibes. Having been drawn towards the boogie from a young age and heavily influenced by his mums love for Donna Summer and George Benson, Stan's show "Boogie’s Grooves" on Brighton’s local radio station Codesouth has been gathering significant interest. In his show, you can expect an eclectic mix of genres and styles ranging from world jazz vibes through to soul and disco.

Through his work with Codesouth, Mr Boogie has formed a collective known as The Funk Amigos, who are taking Brighton’s disco-house scene by storm. Made up of Honcho Hodge, The Juke, Maison De house and Stan Boogie, their collective love and passion for 70s driven disco sounds, is what brought these four amigos together. 2021 is looking to be huge for the four amigos, including gigs such as the Boogaloo Weekender in Camber Sands with the Midnight Riot collective.

DJ Stan Boogie has released his own material on labels such as Super Spicy Records and Mango Sounds, and his latest original production is being released on top disco label, Midnight Riot Records - a significant milestone for the boogieman. After a long year in lockdown, and with many more records in the pipeline , Mr Boogie is excited for this summer with a bunch of gigs lined up with "The Funk Amigos".

Bio

The mind behind of Avika (a.k.a. Gabriella Mravik) is an enthusiastic vinyl collector, selector and DJ based in Hungary, Budapest. She started her carrier as a breaks and drum and bass DJ in 2009 under the artistname of DSH. However her work is also unavoidable in Hungary for broken rhythm lovers she was always open for other music genres like techno and house.

The idea of creating an alterego inspired by her family name arrived just in 2013 - since then Avika has become a serious side-project and complementation of her deep musical thinking. In the past years her name is coming up in lineups where worldwide known techno DJs and producers are playing like Charlotte De Witte, Mateo, Gaga, Metha, Mira Joo, Blankah, Ruiz Sierra, KIKO, and Undercatt. Her selection is always an emotional fusion of past, present and future mixed smoothly by ears and heart. Currently she is a member of the Be Massive Records team, residencing the HERZ (Corvin Club) and SWITCH (Kikoto) party series in her home city Budapest, but she is regularly playing nation-wide. She was a choir singer in her childhood, but never really learned music theory or music making in school, meanwhile her choosen profession being a software engineer, a tech-mind helped her to excel - however as a 'raw talent' she threats sounds with pure intuition, passion and openmindness. Her focus, diligence and endurance are the key points ensuring an outstanding performance leading her crowd through a memorable journey.
