In her sets DJ Ripley spins experimental street bass sounds from cities all over the world, especially those where immigrants mix music from their hometowns with big bass and drum machines. Rooted in jungle, dancehall, hip-hop, noise and dub, Ripley’s crashed through breakcore into other hybrid sounds including azonto, cumbia, bhangra, baile funk, garage, footwork, grime, jersey club, kuduro, dembow, juke, gqom, bounce, and more!

Her eclectic, high-energy set have opened minds and lit up dancefloors across 24 countries on four continents.

As Professor Larisa Kingston Mann (Temple University), she recently published Rude Citizenship: Jamaican Popular Music, Copyright and the Reverberations of Colonial Power.

About the mix: 

"I feel the best in the 130-140 zone and I hope it shows on the recording. The set starts at 140 and gradually climbs down to around 130, which felt rather counterintuitive at first, but gave me the opportunity to start out with some deeper dubstep and move through different flavours of varying intensities all the way until the end. The only way is not up, at least when it comes to sets on the radio))"

Naviny Z Fluxu #32 Dissolved (Prague, CZ)

BLEN is an emerging Ghanaian-American selector based in Prague. While an open-format DJ by heart playing anything out of love for the artform, BLEN’s first proper foray into electronic music started with Fatboy’s Slim’s “Slash Dot Dash” at the age of 9 and since then barrelled them into a life-long love for the genre. Within his sets, fun comes first and he hopes to share that with listeners every single second. BLEN also co-runs a weekly house music party series called Disco House Fever in Prague.

@blenblenblen: "I’ve always loved jungle, breakbeat and hardcore. However, I’ve never really had too many opportunities to indulge in that love for 160 and above. Within this mix I decided to seize that; I’ve mixed a lot of jungle, some juke and footwork here and there, and other interesting sounds from old and new (there’s a bonafide Metalheadz classic in there for those who still have their heart pumping for the sound of the 90s). I always like to say “I like to have fun” so I really hope that attitude shows within this 1 hour mix!"
