Having cut her DJ teeth at iconic clubs such as Doornroosje, Trouw, Studio 80 and Cruquiusgilde, she now enjoys exploring musically deep, trippy soundscapes and organically building narratives that use space to upset conventional club rubrics.

Delving into ambient, breaks, electronica, experimental and IDM, her Patterns of Perception 59 perfectly manifests these qualities: a sonically diverse, luminescent mix best suited to private spaces, long journeys, and far-away places.

We're very honored to present a collection of original compositions & field recordings from 2016 - 2019 by Norweigan based artist - Vera Dvale. @eradvale

Much like the landscapes on the islands in the north where Vera Dvale lives, ’Music is Kinship' invocates a space where time and mind stand still, drawing the listener into a solitary moment with all that is beautiful in nature - allowing for a rare opportunity of contemplation, inner reflection and centeredness.

These delicate and carefully considered loops, combined with a focus on length, slowly change and evolve across the duration of the tape, evoking different emotional states of mind, just like the ever changing temperatures and weather of the northern region.

Though power of this sound collage is not just limited to those specific lands and waters, 'Music is Kinship' is of those rare recordings that provoke and create a sense of presence no matter where you are in the world. Magnifying the beauty and sounds that lay in front of us every moment of the day, though perhaps many of us often take for granted and forget to appreciate....Stillness Speaks.

Another Café – the sophomore Café – following last year’s ‘Café Kotti’ tape sees Wilted Woman and Nick Klein back as a live electronics duo. Their second freeform performance took place at London’s Café Oto in September 2019 during an Alien Jams night. With more preparation but the same amount of looseness, the pair steer away from genre definition and self-importance, manipulating recordings from jam sessions, skillfully altering samples from various sources alongside modular synths patterns. The result ‘Cafe Music 2 : Werewolves Of London’ is a spellbinding flow of meditative drones, beatless rhythmic explorations and unsettling melodies.

Central to the duo’s process is carving out space to play and laugh with (and sometimes at) each other. The two friends have developed their own communication tactics for remote idea generation and exchange – Nick Klein is based in the Hague, with Wilted Woman in Berlin. This also allows them to perform live without imposing rigid structures onto the project.

The pair build upon each performance to create a world of their own which, in turn, should lead them to many more Cafés.

UNIZONE: ALEXMALISM [s02e10] 𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖊 𝖘𝖊𝖙

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing - or refusing - to fit the patriarchal, neoliberalist mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal. Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate modes of existence that escape hetero- patriarchal systems of oppression.

This month we have invited @floating-spectrum to respond to this concept.

Povím Vám příběh.

Je 21. února tohoto roku. Studená zima pomalu končí, blíží se tolik očekávané jaro. Nálada dobrá, svátek má Lenka, Eleonora a Lena. Korona ještě čiluje a Ban Jarnet vyráží do brněnského ArtBaru jako headliner noci. Večírek s názvem Farneval je semestr zahajovací párty prváků z fakulty architektury VUT. Akce nese podtitul "v záři neonů, UV lamp a s nádechem extravagance."

Jupí, pecka, boží, skvělej booking. Čerství vysokoškoláci dychtící nejen po mejdanu a svých nových spolužácích, ale hlavně po něčem neokoukaném. V tomto případě neoposlouchaném. Moje představa je křišťálové jasná.


Architektura, to jsou velkolepé stavby, kreativita, nové přístupy, nutné odlišné myšlení, něco jako favu a filda na muni. Prostě lehce ulítlí lidi s duší umělce, ale víc technicky založení. Tedy rozhodně očekávající netradiční techno masírku.

Asi už víte, kam to směřuje.

Mýlil jsem se. Architektura úplně není něco jako favu a filda na muni.
Samozřejmě neztrácím hlavu a svůj dvouhodinový set zahajuji ducavým nepříliš komplikovaným groovy technem, které by mělo být snesitelné pro širší spektrum návštěvníků. A daří se.

Holky tančej, což je dobře, páč to znamená, že kluci budou taky. Parádička, 40 lidí na place, pro mé překvapení tančící v několika kroužcích. Klopím do sebe druhé pívi, vajb is ready a už jen úsměvy.

Jde to tak dobře, že se ke mně začnou hlásit cizí holky, oujes.

Náhle ale růžový brejle padaj rychle na zem a mladá budoucí architekta se mě nepřišla zeptat, co za drink si dám. A neptá se ani na název tracku, který jí zrovna masíruje bubínky.

Asi už víte, kam to směřuje.

"Héj, nemáš sanšajn of lavin od stývna mekenzího, nebo its prfekt dej od džona fidže?" (Nebo tak něco.)

"Bohužel nemám." odpovídám.

"Tak prostě něco, kde se zpívá. Toto je takový furt stejný ta muzika."

Moje hlava jasně jasně, čas na trochu disca a housu, prostě jsem to jen zbytečně přepálil.

Desítky minut ubíhají, tráčky se prolínají, už se netančí v kroužcích. Vlastně se už netančí vůbec, před bednama to dost prořídlo a i přes veškerou mou snahu se partičky studentů z cigaretových pauz jaksi stále nevrací.

V sále jsem sám. Fakt sám, úplně sám, nikde ani noha. Možná v tam-tom pravým zadním rohu osvětlovač, ale spíš to bliká na automat. Na stopkách zbývá lehce méně než hodina a já že teda co. Mám hrát dál, nebo to vypnout a jít se omluvit, že jsem jim pokazil prvákovskou párty? 

Hovno, už vím, kde je chyba. Vypínám aktuální track.

Dýdžej mého ražení přece nemá hrát tak, aby se snažil zalíbit co nejvíce lidem na úkor vlastní spokojenosti s prezentovanou muzikou. Dýdžej jako já má hrát přesně to, co chce on sám a nepodřizovat se. Musí ho to bavit a být si svoji muzikou zcela jist, protože pouze pak to baví i posluchače a díky tomu dochází k té pověstné výměně energií.

Přede mnou prázdný sál a posledních pětačtyřicet minut mého vystoupení. Otvírám složku s fresh matrem, zapínám rekordér a jdu hrát přesně to, s čím budu zcela ztotožněn a je to má pravá tvář. Chci podat maximální možný výkon.

V ten moment z čista jasna přichází má kamarádka Nikol, nese dva panáky zázvorodky a se smíchem v obličeji říká "Kde dopíči všichni jsou?!" Smutně se usmívám a krčím rameny. Připíjíme na dobrou náladu a jdeme si užít pár desítek minut ještě nevědomky poslední předkoronové párty.

Hraje to fakt skvěle, mix za mixem se daří na jedničku, mé djské ego mlaská blahem a kromě Nikol se na parketě skutečně objevuje několik dalších lidí. Moc nepaří, ale rozhodně poslouchají. Přichází za mnou hezkej kluk sportovní figury, taky budoucí architekt. Oproti předchozímu rozhovoru si ale tento pamatuji přesně.

"Kamaráde, horší hudbu jsem v životě neslyšel, nedá se na to tancovat. Do příště by ses měl zlepšit."

Řeknu Vám, vlastně mě to moc potěšilo. Znamená to totiž, že to jednak fakt poslouchal, taky že se na to snažil tančit a teda hlavně, že mě hodlají pozvat i příště.

Ban Jarnet - Cars and Girls

Liptov is a 12 track collaboration between contemporary Czech and Slovak electronic music producers, each tasked with reinterpreting 1982s “Liptov - A Panorama of Folk Song and Music Culture”. The original collection sought to preserve the musical cultural heritage of the region, while the “Liptov” compilation maps the current spectrum of the electronic scene of both countries, across genres and styles. Initiated by Prague-based community project Punctum, and released on the Punctum Tapes label, the artists of Liptov not only confront the past with the present via the reimagining of traditional music, but also contribute to the ongoing emancipation of the local electronic music scene.

Compilation will be released on 12'' vinyl and digitally on February 12, 2021.
