Interview with Vlastur 19/04/2014

Vlastur started his journey into music as a Bass player. Back in the mid-80's, he was a founding member of the Cohash Funk, an underground funky Athenian group. In 1998 alongside Frequency Freak, fellow Cohash funk guitarist and Spiris, a dubby drummer, formed "Apeuthias Syndesi" now known as Direct Connection, a dub experimental laboratory. They released "Dub Infection" in 2007. Even though he started as a Bassist in Direct Connection, he was the main FX Sound Engineer of the band.

In the meanwhile he was also working as a session musician with various artists and bands. In 2004 he teamed up with Palyrria an ethnic-electronica band and in 2005 recorded "Methexy" with them and has played in many of their gigs. 

The (InterAxion Dub) project is the first fully length work of Vlastur. Influenced by all his beloved sounds from Dub to Dubstep trough Psy, Ambient, Drum n' Bass and Traditional Mediterranean sounds ! 

Vlastur is the live project of him. The active members right now are: Dark Elf (Synth/Machines) + Tolis aka DreamMadeTeller on percussions and vox, also Akbar on percussions, Wee (Guitar) + G.Verix as a sound engineer, while other have been participating the previous years, like Frequency Freak (Guitar/Synths), Spyro K. (Drums), Elena (Vocals), Pan Kaperneka (Flute) and Dinos Z. on the sound consoles. Vlastur believes that the sound evolves constantly while the vibe remains the same, from Rock n' Roll to Punk and from Dub to Psy.

The next transmission of the Psylife series features French psytrance pioneer Hyper Frequencies who prepared a strong, tribal and mesmerizing mix for the radiOzora listeners exclusively with his own music. From Thursday, 17th April 8pm onwards on the Trance channel, don't miss it...

Gilles Beraud known under the name of Hyper Frequencies started his career in the 80s, as a bass player in a rock band which already had a psychedelic flavor. He then discovered electronic music, started to mix in 1994 and followed with producing music from 1998. It is in 2003 that his first solo album ”Red Crystal Moon” is released on Mechanik Sound Records. At the end of 2007, his second album comes out: ”Phantasmatika” under Syncronize Records. In between the launch of the two albums, he skimed the dance floors of our planet and played on all the scene of the most renown festivals such as Boom, Antaris, Universo Parallelo, Ozora, Rhythms of Peace, Hadra, Eclipse, Shanti Jatra and Timegate just to name a few. As of today, he counts to his credit more than 30 visited countries, 70 tracks on 25 different labels such as Mechanik Records, Hadra, Spirit Zone, Peak, Parvati, Syncronize, Mandala or Psylife Records. His 3rd opus solo album “In Spiritus” has come out on Mandala last year, as always in his own personal style, a strong, tribal and mesmerizing psytrance sound.

Before performing one of his rare gigs at this Avatar Events' party, Daniel Segerstad a.k.a. SYNC24 of the one and only Ultimae Records' Carbon Based Lifeforms is joining us live from the studio to get us in the right mood for celebrating.

Started in early years experimeting with tape recorders and simple music players on the Commodore 64 and gradually upgrading equipment and techniques. Having CBL as his main focus and some other projects on the side there’s always room for personal reflections.

SYNC24 is the result of sudden impulse of inspiration, late nights without interference from others.

Itay KUKAN DUB LAGAN is bringing some sunshine for smiling people into the first edition of a new radiOzora show, the Sofa Beats series with a special mix following the talk.

KUKAN-DUB-LAGAN is the project of Itay Berger. Itay is 40 years old, located in Barcelona, Spain. He has been listening and playing electronic music since he was 16 years old. He spent over 3 years working as a sound engineer in one of the top sound and light companies in Israel.
His decision to make music was strongly influenced by his trip to Ibiza in 1997-8. At that time he also started to preform in Israel and abroad at mostly underground parties. Itay's general musical influences are wide-ranging. His journey into chill-out djing started in 2002 in Israel. During that time he was also signed by a UK techno-house label (www.klubdj.co.uk) under the name DJ Itay for a year and flew to Japan to play at parties in Osaka and Kyoto. Returning back to Israel, he enrolled to sound engineering college for one year and totally committed himself to music composition. Drawing from his djing experience, his early family musical influences as well as his own musical background he created his chill-out project: KUKAN-DUB-LAGAN.

"Underwater" presents nine original tracks, three of which are collaborations with Kaya Project, Symbolico and Soru. The album will be out on Jan 25th On Desert Trax.

Gumi is a downtempo elastic journey created by the prolific Tel Aviv producer Maor Hasbani.
In the late 90s Maor was engulfed by electronic music and started avidly collecting CDs and vinyl. Genres such as Ambient, IDM, Breakbeat, Acid, Space Rock, Jazz Fusion and so on, inspired him deeply and set him on a life mission of self- expression through music and sound. By elegantly fusing bold basslines, tribal rhythms, psychedelic atmospheres and ethnic melodies - Gumi’s modern production and analog sound has set a blaze some of the best dancefloors on the face of the planet. Also responsible for the internationally renowned psytrance project ‘Skizologic’, Maor has already rocked Boom Festival, Psy-Fi Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Chill Out Planet Festival, Tribal Gathering Festival, Doof Festival, Samsara Festival and Dakini Festival to name a few, as well as extensively touring Japan and the USA. After releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, Gumi is set to unleash a full debut album in 2021 presenting his new spectrum of sounds and sophisticated storytelling.
