David Phoenix is a Hungarian DJ/Producer based in Vienna. Being on the abstract side of the techno and minimal world, his music offers a dark driving flow, built into structured patterns. David's continuous productivity makes him a fast growing artist in the scene and his productions have been published on many respected labels. He launched the Monthly Darkness podcast series in 2020, promoting the newest releases and forthcoming tracks.

Here's this month's episode from the "Deep down the rabbit hole" series by Hungarian DJ and "Budapest In The Dark" founder, DJ Seldon, now showcasing a guest mix from FREDDY HETZINGER. Freddy Hetzinger is a well known DJane from Germany whose sound and sets are always driving, dark, dirty and with a big portion of psytech. Growing up in a family of musicians and experiencing the Stuttgart rave scene as a teen, Freddy Hetzinger was inspired by the groove and energy of electronic music and started DJing in 2000. In the following years she was part of several projects and received numerous bookings all over Germany. From 2007-2014 she was part of the legendary ToY Club in Stuttgart! In 2012 she founded the label Mischkonsum Records together with Sashliq and started producing her own tracks. In 2016 she started her own sublabel mikofh where the focus is on 4 to the floor functional minimal techno! At the end of 2018 she left Mischkonsum Records and put all her energy in new releases, new collabs with several artists, new bookings, and she found her new home at Occultech Recordings..

From a serial killer's basement, somewhere in London UK, Hefty has pioneered the darkside since 2010. Undoubtedly the preeminent master of darker sounds, skillfully preparing you for the impending apocalypse with his unique style. After over 2 years of this growing support from his friends, peers and fans, Hefty was inspired to create his own label: Darker Sounds, focused solely on showcasing underground dark techno and minimal. Unafraid to constantly refine and evolve his style, Hefty has since ventured into the world of psychedelic trance, using his Techno production techniques to create his own style of dark, driving psytrance. He created his own psychedelic label "Erebos Records" - a platform for releasing the darkest psy trance from the best undiscovered artists from around the world. This psychedelic adventure then lead Hefty to start producing his own version of downtempo / chillout music, which he calls Dark Tek. Now armed with a trifecta of genres, Hefty is on track to further cement his reputation as an unstoppable force in the realm of dark techno, minimal and psychedelia.

In this episode Seldon invites you "deep down the rabbit hole" with CUBEX. Born and grown up in Switzerland , Cubex discovered his interest in electronic music early and started DJ’ing at the age of 17. Only a short time later his interest became more intense and transformed into passion for Drum&Bass and Techno. In the following years Cubex gained experience playing at local and national events. In parallel, he promoted his own event series and cofounded the Drum&Bass label “Perkussiv Music”. At the age of 30 the urge to make the next step got the upper hand. As a consequence, Cubex took a leave as a promoter and started producing in 2010. The style of Cubex stands for creative and daring beat combinations reflecting his musical roots and his personality. He combines rhythmic and driving House and Techno beats with hypnotic, psychedelic and dark atmospheres from the realms of Psytrance and Drum&Bass. Cubex’s productions are unmistakably his own and timeless. He himself describes his music as "deep and twisted Psy-Techno".

In this On the Way to Ozora epsiode we present THE FLYING MARS / OUOA. 2 projects in one artist are coming, as The Flying Mars we can catch him in the Dome, while with his Ouoa project, he will be performing at the Ambyss this summer. The two mixes within this show represent his two projects. Unusual and alternative sounds, experimentation in rhythm and melodic alterations: all of this is "The Flying Mars" project. Mario Engel, hailing from the Swiss Alps, was always in contact with different genres and had a good ear for many kinds of music. Now, with his The Flying Mars project he wants to channel all of his auditory and composing experiences into a mind-bending mix of creativity, giving his contribution to the already variegated world of electronic music. The Flying Mars combines Psy-Dub, Ambient, Psy-Chill, as well as Drum & Bass and Psy-Trance, with flowing rhythms and deep bass lines. "Ouoa" has no form and no boundaries, music in its rawest possible vibration, frequency and energy. An ocean of sounds, dark, noisy, dissonant, drone planet atmospheres melting together, to resonate and let you feel the basics of vibration energy.

Our cozy Island, nestled deep in a valley, surrounded by river and waterfalls and covered by green grass is hosting The Swamp stage. Hottest and most memorable part of the festival's location is home to Dark Progressive, Psy Bass, Dub, Breaks, Techno, Glitch and other various styles of music. With PSYCHEDELIC as only common denominator and DANCE as the main philosophy behind it.

When we started building Mo:Dem accordingly to our vision of festival with three musical stages, the role of The Swamp was a crucial one. Basic idea was to generate counterbalance to the faster and heavier musical styles presented at The Hive. Creating 'alternative stage' wasn’t our intention. Rather we imagined The Swamp as the extension of same psychedelic dance experience. Possibility to select between artists coming from a wide spectrum of psychedelic music gave us an opportunity to succeed in our plan. As Swamp literally and figuratively means diversity and variety, this was set as the main guideline for this stage in the future.

We are happy that we can share with you some sounds from 2017. edition. This time we are presenting you Breger.

This track came alive through a moment of exploring west-african desert blues guitar combined with producing an abstract, pulsing world beat while pondering life in the garden of my home in Berlin. Months later, while traveling through the sacred valley of Peru on a journey with cactus medicine, my brother Dawid passed me samples of a recording of the Mwami tribe (meaning King Shepherd) and royal drums from Rwanda whose cultural music and identity has disappeared since the republic was formed in 1961. These samples I have mixed with my production and guitar playing to give it an otherworldly feel. I believe in the idea of carrying cultural heritage through the medium of sound and production thus giving new life to ancient tradition and merging the old with a new artistic vision.

About the song
I've always had a fascination with bats and especially their way of "seeing" by using the echos of their own screams, emitted a couple dozen times per second. Its amazing that they can make a mental image of their surroundings this way while flying around in total darkness with a million other bats. After I signed on to make this track and chose the bat, I remembered that my Mayan Nagual is 12 Aq'ab'al; this Nagual is about Light vs Dark and one of the animals that represents it is the bat. This was also around the time that the coronavirus outbreak was happening in Wuhan and it was suspected of doing the species jump from bat to human...needless to say it seems like the energy of the bat is following me around, and I tried to evoke the mystery of this animal in the track through the tribal percussion, middle eastern dulcimer and vocals, and the cave-inspired effects.
