Orpheus was the son of Apollo and Calliope, the Muse. Apollo gave his son a lyre and taught him how to play; Orpheus did to such perfection that even Apollo was surprised. It is said that nothing could resist to his music and melody, neither friends nor enemies or beasts. Even trees and rocks were entranced with his music. Orpheus fell in love with Eurydice a woman of unique beauty; they got married and lived happily for many years. Hymen was called to bless the marriage and he predicted that their perfection was not meant to last for years.  At some time, soon after his omen, Eurydice was wandering in the forest with the Nymphs, when Aristaeus, a shepherd saw her and was beguiled by her beauty. He started chasing her and making advances on her. Eurydice got scared and tried to escape, but she was bitten by a snake and died. Orpheus sang his grief with his lyre and managed to move everything living or not on the world; both humans and Gods were deeply touched by his sorrow and grief. Apollo then advised his son to descend to the Hades and see his wife. Any other mortal would have died, but Orpheus protected by the Gods, went to the Hades and arrived at the infamous Stygian realm, passing by ghosts and souls of people unknown. He also managed to charm Cerberus, the known monster with the three heads. Orpheus presented himself in front of the God of the Underworld Hades (Pluto) and his wife Persephone. Orpheus started playing for them and even the cold heart of Hades started melting, due to the melodies coming from Orpheus lyre. Hades told Orpheus that he could take Eurydice with him but under one condition; Eurydice would follow him while walking out to the light from the caves of the Underworld, but he should not look at her before coming out to the light because he would lose her forever.

La música es una de las formas de medicina preventiva más antiguas conocidas. Mucho antes del desarrollo de la floreciente industria musical, la música pertenecía al ámbito sagrado de la espiritualidad y la sanación. Si tenemos en cuenta que en 2000, se gastaron 37.000 millones de dólares en todo el mundo en música (cedés, casetes y discos de vinilo), bien podría ser uno de nuestros medicamentos1 más subvencionados.

La música y el sonido están presentes en la terminología médica. La salud significa tener un «cuerpo y una mente sound [sano, sonido]». En chino, medicina es yao, que deriva de yue2, que significa «música». Pero la conexión va más allá del lenguaje. Los curanderos y curanderas utilizaban tambores y cantos para curar las enfermedades. Los chamanes eran los médicos de las tribus indígenas, viajaban a otros mundos a través de las vibraciones de los tambores para cuidar de la salud espiritual del alma. En la actualidad se sigue manteniendo esta conexión entre la música y la medicina. Podemos verla en los investigadores que menciono en este libro; son médicos y músicos que hacen su aportación al creciente número de pruebas obtenidas de los estudios que confirman la sabiduría intuitiva de nuestros antepasados.

Mada & Shoao At Tekio - " This Is The END "

An argentinean producer/luthier and a British producer/environmental activist joined by the love of traditional music and slow electronics, under the premise of “music without borders”. This led to the birth of the Shika Shika collective some five years ago but also their collaborative project, HIstory of Colour.
Since 2013, Agustin Rivaldo (Barrio Lindo) and Robin Perkins (El Búho) been working together under the premise of finding and tuning their crossover sound as History of Colour.
After the unexpected success of their last EP “ Calidoso”, History of Colour is back to present their debut album, “Antumbra”.

These two producers, who have each made a name for themselves in the Latin American downtempo electronica scene, have been slow-roasting this eight instrumental track release for the past two years. Since they started to collaborate, their creative processes have always been done remotely. Though this album started like this, they took the opportunity to come together in person for different sessions.

On the album the duo explore a new path, one that envelops the essence of their South American musical inspirations with darkly happy melodies and psychedelic arpeggios. Featuring German talent M.RUX, frequent Shika Shika collaborator, and Portuguese composer MaguPi, “Antumbra” writes the next chapter of this musical brotherhood.

Shika Shika Collective will also release the project that encapsulates the beginnings of the collective on vinyl for the first time.
