Here is the fifth edition of TropiCaldo Sonoro. 

And the guest that joins our DJs’ crew is the incredible Cecilia Lindgren, known as Linda Green ( @cecilindgren ), now settled in São Paulo. She’s been sharing an off-beat sound profile which is free of gender labels. 

As an open-minded and multiple featured DJ, Linda reaffirms her style by the use of different musical dimensions that provokes intense thrill - from exciting beats to obscure and introspective atmospheres. 

With this set you should expect a sonority that is far from any pattern listened so far at TropiCaldo. 

“This mixtape is an outline of my feelings during this pandemic summer, which culminates in our collective nostalgia for carnival. 

During this past year, between COVID waves and living in the epicenter of the pandemic, I experienced a huge roller coaster of feelings, many times moved by the attempts of letting the past go and the anxiety of predicting the future. These are the movements which have been ground for my musical research, this mix of genders and references all tangled.

The proposal is to leave my comfort zone and to offer a different angle of my work, navigating in the border of nonsense (this is what life became, nonsense).”

Chegamos a quinta edição de nossa TropiCaldo Sonoro.

Para agregar a nosso time de dj’s, convidamos a incrível brasiliense radicada em São Paulo, Cecília Lindgren, a.k.a. Linda Green (@cecilindgren ). A DJ vem compartilhando com o público um perfil sonoro fora dos padrões e livre de gêneros. 

Receptiva e cheia de facetas ecléticas, reafirma em seu trabalho a abertura para diversas vertentes musicais que trazem mixes intensos de sensações. De vibrações animadas à atmosferas introspectivas e obscuras.

Para esse set, esperem sonoridades distintas de qualquer padrão encontrado até agora na TropiCaldo. 

“Essa mixtape é uma síntese dos meus sentimentos durante esse verão de pandemia, culminando no saudosismo coletivo do carnaval. 

Esse último ano, entre ondas da pandemia e morar no epicentro, vivi uma grande montanha russa de emoções, muitas vezes movida pela tentativa de desapegar do passado e da ansiedade de antecipar o que vai acontecer no futuro. São esses movimentos que têm norteado as minhas pesquisas musicais, uma mistura de gêneros e referências emboladas num turbilhão. 

A proposta da seleção foi sair da zona de conforto e apresentar um recorte diferente do meu trabalho, caminhando no limite do sem pé e nem cabeça (é isso que a vida se tornou, o limite do sem pé e nem cabeça). “

At this time of year, in a pre-pandemic world most Brazilians would be preparing their typical northeastern clothes, rehearsing the forgotten steps for traditional dances and thinking about what food they would choose to satiate the longing for the “Festa Junina” (June Festivity) -  traditional Brazilian party that takes place in the month of June.

Unfortunately, the time has not yet come for us to gather together in a festivity. To try to alleviate this, TropiCaldo Sonoro invited a duo who will bring a little bit of nostalgia to our ears: Forró Red Light ( @forroredlight ).

Using electronic bases as a starting point for a reinterpretation of one of the most traditional and danceable rhythms of Brazilian music, Geninho Nanacoa and Ramiro Galas invite restless feet and curious ears to dive into a shindig of the future. It is through versions and classics of forró, baião, xote and frevo that the duo presents themselves. To put your feet and ears in the particular universe of Forró Red Light is to allow yourself to dance (snug or not) in an atmosphere of organic and electronic rhythms that stick to your neck and make dancing inevitable. 

“This mixtape is like TropiCaldo, hot and tropical! Mixing the songs from the new EP "Tropeiros Trópicos" (Gop Tun label) with new and old classics from Brazilian music that inspire us, we made a selection that points out where Forró Red Light is – with the tracks from the new work – and where the donkey-ship goes, delivering some unreleased demos and possible remixes to come!”

Nessa época do ano, em um mundo pré pandêmico, grande parte dos brasileiros estaria preparando suas vestimentas típicas do nordeste, ensaiando os passos esquecidos para uma quadrilha e pensando qual comida escolheria para saciar a saudade da Festa Junina. 

Infelizmente seguimos mais um ano sem poder fazer uma festa digna que a época pede. E, para tentar amenizar essa falta, a TropiCaldo Sonoro convidou uma dupla que trará um pouco de nostalgia aos nossos ouvidos: Forró Red Light ( @forroredlight ).

Usando bases eletrônicas como ponto de partida para releitura de um dos ritmos mais tradicionais e dançantes da música brasileira, Geninho Nanacoa e Ramiro Galas convidam os pés inquietos e os ouvidos curiosos para mergulharem em um arrasta-pé do futuro. É através de versões e clássicos do forró, do baião, do xote e do frevo que a dupla se apresenta. Colocar o pé, e os ouvidos, nesse universo particular do Forró Red Light é se permitir dançar (agarradinho ou não) em uma atmosfera de ritmos orgânicos e eletrônicos que grudam no cangote e fazem o arrasta-pé inevitável.

Will O’ Wisp has spent countless hours in his Laboratory distilling this audio investigation, creating a baroque futuristic patchwork of profound moments and bright melodies. This masterpiece will be the definite proof of the reality of magic, science, art and the otherworldly results that modular synthesis can offer to all of the psychedelic trance scene.
