What are the ways to ring in the New year? One way is to sleep through it by falling asleep in one year and waking up in the next. You can even go to sleep on a plane and wake up in an entirely different country altogether. Another option is to go to the village of Baarle - whose territory is divided into a patchwork of Belgian and Dutch territories with some shops and buildings straddling both countries - and welcome the new year in two countries at the same time. You can celebrate the beginning of the year not once, but, say, twice, first in the Swedish town of Karesuando and then in the Finnish village of Karesuvanto just across the bridge: while the two settlements are split by one and the same river, they are nonetheless stuck in different time zones. And last but not least, you can always spend the New Year’s Eve and the the New Year’s Day with your family at home, with your friends at a club, with strangers in a square, and all by yourself in a traffic jam. But all of that is of absolutely no account because no matter how many times and in how many locations you celebrate, you will then have to live the year with all the thoughts you secretly nourished in your head, all the plans you won’t manage to accomplish this year either, and all the dreams that will make the next 365 days better than the last. @madmotormiquel’s set is here to sum up all this. Incredibly grateful for this invitation to participate in this celebration. These sweet souls had booked me to play their birthday event in Mykonos and we're kind enough to still honor that time while being quarantined in Boulder CO. After being mostly quite and kind've caught like a dear in the headlights these days, i began to set back in motion and began feeling super excited and joyful playing music. Unfortunately due to where i'm staying at the moment i could not pull off a live stream, so we opted for a recording instead. I recorded the tracks that bring back fond memories of seeing peoples responds on the dance floor the past year, so here's a collection of my favorites, they sure bring back sweet memories for me, hope they move you as well.

This Space Between Ourselves | Live Set 2020

Half Belgian and half Dutch, Ramona spent her youth bouncing between Antwerp and Amsterdam throughout the early 90s. Growing up on Belgian techno and the Dutch love of house music instilled in her an early appreciation for contrast and balance between these two genres of music.

Ramona’s sound weaves together a tapestry of melodies, textures and beats, reflecting two decades of extensive world travel. Always conscious of the energy of her audience, her sensitivity stems from a love of dancing, and results in an emotive, sensual style that exudes a rich array of feeling. It is Ramona’s way of giving back and getting back to that vital place we all go when the music feels right.
