The follow up to 2019's Star Creature x Mirlaqi Systeme debut which despite being 5 years old saw a big uptick this year after being championed by Green Velvet both in his life sets and via his official Spotify Track ID playlist. This lead to Geneva's Mirlaqi paying a visit to Star Creature's HQ in Chicago during the early summer of 2024. Label-head Tim Zawada and Mirlaqi aka Timour Nigolian spent a few days chopping it up about music, hitting record stores, club nights, loft parties as well as some crucial beach-side studio link ups with a few Chicago and Detroit players.

Release the pressure D3EP 19.03

We enter into the Nigerian funk fuelled, ‘Adjust like Dat’ EP, dedicated to Joseph Malik's late father, Francis Ukachukwu, who was a Fela Kuti super fan. He had a huge vinyl collection of Fela’s music which inspired Joseph during the making of the track and he wanted to incorporate the ‘sound’ of his childhood hero, Stevie Wonder and in order to pull this off, he brought in Steven Christie from the Proclaimers on electric piano, Daniel Walls on drums and percussion, award winning jazz trumpet player, Colin Steele plus Darren Morris on Fender bass and clavinet. DJ Nasty P provides the kuts with Jo Wallace on backing vocals and Cuban Brother, Mike Keat delivering his rap that steals the show, sealing the deal on this all-star line up of Edinburgh talent with the Easter Road Northern Soul Band.
