The follow up to 2019's Star Creature x Mirlaqi Systeme debut which despite being 5 years old saw a big uptick this year after being championed by Green Velvet both in his life sets and via his official Spotify Track ID playlist. This lead to Geneva's Mirlaqi paying a visit to Star Creature's HQ in Chicago during the early summer of 2024. Label-head Tim Zawada and Mirlaqi aka Timour Nigolian spent a few days chopping it up about music, hitting record stores, club nights, loft parties as well as some crucial beach-side studio link ups with a few Chicago and Detroit players.

Release the pressure D3EP 19.03

Jo at Ramrock Records is always intrigued when presented with music found on an old DAT tape, especially when it’s found in a loft in deepest Lancashire. And interest is peaked even further when the band are an enigma, and the music emerging from said DAT is astonishingly good. Little is known of B:Dum B:Dum Sound, except they came from the Manchester art, film and music scene in the early 90’s and that their name is a Buzzcocks reference. Merging elements of Post-punk through Dub and the City’s vibrant dance scene they put out just one 12" – the 1993 self-released (and Bolton Art Council funded) B:Dum B:Dum 4 track EP cut by the legendry Porky Prime Cuts. 
‘The Lost Tapes EP’ contains ‘Do/Don’t’ which appeared on the later 10” re-release by Mysticisms in 2021, which featured five B:Dum tracks, which sold out almost immediately. It found favour amongst the likes of Sean Johnston, The Flightpath Estate DJ collective and other clued up Dub-tech aficionados. There are also three unreleased tracks, which are stone cold Dub-tech classics which were found on a dusty half cabbaged DAT tape in a loft alongside other lost gems. Containing the perfect marriage of samples, sound design, dub and house, the music was perhaps ahead of its time. Over the years, the original 12” became a classic in the underground clubs of France and Germany, and today sees the vinyl selling for up to £300.
B:Dum played only a few gigs. On one memorable occasion they supported a nascent The Verve and were nearly bottled off stage for having ‘no f*cking guitars’. 
All tracks have been expertly and sympathetically re-mastered by Darren Morris at North Street West studio. Watch this space!
