Terrene stands as the first musical encounter between Danish and French composers Henrik Laugesen and Vincent Villuis respectively known as Lauge and AES Dana. 

A cornucopia of evanescent pads and elaborate rhythms with a distinctive downtempo vibe; a daedal story taking one on a magnetic peregrination through dense and contrasted sonic geographies, picturing the notion of temporality and space. 

This mighty 10 track album elicits emotions and feelings and will leave you full of moxie!

With their self-titled debut last year on Total Stasis, CS + Kreme’s leftfield, ambient pop took us by surprise and turned out to become one of our favorite, rinsed home-records from 2016. With a handful of gigs so far exclusively in the open air of Melbourne, the duo, consisting of Conrad Standish and Samuel Karmel (also part of F Ingers), team up again for this release to jam together a bubbly, hypnotizing lullaby before venturing off into a warped dreamscape around the 10 minute mark. On the B-side Vancouver-via-Kaifeng resident Yu Su cleanses the body, mind, and soul with Little Forest. My new album is called Home. About a year ago, I pumped the breaks on my career. I cancelled a bunch of shows, parted ways with my manager, and moved back in with my parents.

I took a stab at singing and writing songs for the first time and a year later, ended up with this album. It was pretty scary/vulnerable at first, but I was so lucky to have support and guidance from my friends. These songs helped me feel good and stay grounded through the bumpy times. Music is pretty cool like that..

The first edition of Moonshoe Selects is about the interwebs… And who better to inaugurate our mix series than a true connoisseur of esoteric and oddball sound? Lauren has deftly spun together over an hour of psychotropic Tropicalia that places pins all around the globe. Connecting the fifteen thousand kilometres between a quixotic ex-progger in West London thinking of East Timor to 80s oddities from Australia’s east coast, Lauren draws from the “melting pot” era of the 80s, when tropical sounds outside Kraftwerk’s Teutonic rigidity where channeled through primitive drum machines. The perfect soundtrack to the synthetic Jungle of your dreams...

A note about the song by singer Danny Musengo.

-Last year around this time I was talking to my therapist about a cartoon I saw as a kid, The Grasshopper and The Ant.

Even as a child I worried I was the grasshopper... playing music and gallivanting about while the ants prepared for the long winter ahead.

I explained to my therapist that I had just split with my girlfriend, left my apartment, left my job and to top it off... I had given up the one thing that kept my lifelong existential crisis at bay... alcohol. The long winter had indeed come and I was feeling more and more like the grasshopper in the story.

My therapist just looked at me knowingly and asked "Have you ever watched the cartoon until the end?" I hadn't.

"...the ants realize their lives are dull without the grasshopper and his music... so they invite him in to play for them."

This was both a relief and a revelation.

Later that night Dave and I were in the backyard taking a smoke break from a frustrating recording session. We sat silently staring at the stars for some time before Dave suggested that we put away the song we were working on and write a new one. It was 3am.

We got up and walked back down into the studio. Dave sat at the Rhodes, pressed record and started playing the giant chords you hear at the beginning of the track.

They reminded me of the story from my therapy session.

I approached the mic and started to sing.

The whole song came out in one long breath. No edits. No doubling back.

Just one clear cut message from God to the grasshopper.

Tonantzin represents the Great Mother goddess, or Mother Earth coming from the Aztec language of Nahuatl. She has numerous names and faces across the many First Nations of the world. Weaving her primordial song with the aboriginal didgeridoo, the song anchors the energy of the drum while lifting the Spirit of the dancer to help us remember we are Earth.
