The album "Thought Fountain" by Spoq is a trip! Equipped with unflappable passion for his music and seemingly inexhaustible creativity, Spoq takes the listener on an epic tour through unheard rhythmic landscapes. "Thought Fountain" is full of different moods and surprises. It wanders between lush, beautiful melodies combined with edgy electronic noises as well as dark, heavy beats and basses. Pre released tracks already gained a lot of critical acclaim with comparisions to the music of Bonobo or the sound craft of Chris Clark or Amon Tobin.
According to Spoq, this is a natural album, meaning the different tracks developed organically rather following intuition than concept. But also the compositions themselves are full of complex oddities, dissonant tones, dusty, scratchy analogue noises which are used as instruments and arranged in a way that the combinations reveal a suprising and natural beauty.
Within more than two years of development, Spoq experimented a lot with unusual sound sources and samples to create the unique soul of this record. While the melodies are played mostly by analogue instruments, often he applied foley techniques to add to the mix. That means he generated the tones and percussion with a variety of objects instead of instruments, as long as he could get the right sounds out of them.
This unrestricted playfullness and the masterful composition skills of Spoq make "Thought Fountain" a rare find, that easily stands out.

'The Bridge' is the lead single from Loci Records compilation album 'Season Two', curated by downtempo favourite Emancipator. 

The collection is a wondrous explosion of vibrant sonic textures enriched with soulful and emotive pieces from notable Loci alumni artists, as well as several new additions, heralding what's to come from the label. 

A contemporary look at where downtempo stands today in electronic music, Season Two weaves in and out of various flavours ranging from instrumental hip-hop, lo-fi beat, ambient IDM, left-field electronica, and more. 

Founded and curated by downtempo staple Emancipator, Loci Records is a point of convergence - the crossroads of melodic downtempo, instrumental hip hop, and electronica. Over the last 7 years, Loci has quietly become a platform for intelligent, carefully crafted, electronic music, shining a light on young artists, and helping those acts bring their visions to fruition. With over 30 releases under the label’s imprint from a strong roster of artists also including Marley Carroll, Thoma, Nym, and Edamame. 

Season Two is the second compilation from Loci lineage and whilst it introduces a number of new artists into the Loci world, it also marks the beginning of a more consistent release schedule with bigger releases, developing a global reach, and revealing more hidden gems with the world.

Lapa and 9Theory team up on a new collaborative single, out now on Loci Records.

"Cracking Stories" is the result of our first collaboration together; something we've wanted to do for years.  This track we ended up creating is something we both really love, though it surprisingly ended up sounding very different than either Lapa or 9 Theory music typically does with it's darker mood and more distorted, aggressive sounds and energy.  This song is a great example of what you get when you collaborate without expectations or any sort of parameters, and have fun doing it.
