We have heard the words to every song that has been sung. They have been remixed, remastered, rewritten, and reviewed more than enough times to seize hold of our subconscious. They make us imagine that those played out words are the only ones that matter, the only stories that exist. But, words are history, they are lies thinly veiled in our ego, our perception and our external wants. Words are dead.
 
Evan Bartholomew – better known as Bluetech – is putting life back in music. His five track EP Cosmic Dubs holds fast to the idea that words can be misconstrued, but music can be passion, energy, and connectivity. The act of listening becomes meditation, and
a story breaks through the riffs and beats becoming a bridge to something more.

That which follows equally advocates the awesome calibre of fresh material doing the rounds in the world of new music right now. Starting from the beginning, a very good place to start, Azealia Banks, Art Department, Scuba, Sweet Exorcist, Bei Major, ASAP ROCKY, Cloud Boat, Kash kid and Francis Pope all assemble en masse with a proverbial picnic basket packed full of autumnal treats. Littering beats like falling leaves, we’ve raked up some right stewed prunes for you to chow down on. Lick your lips, pass the sauce and tuck in. If you’re not hungry now, you soon will be.

Countryboy, Clym Evernden, is the award-winning illustrator who crafted the collage stylee cover art for September’s mix. Describing the direction he took when dreaming up his abstract image, Clym explained “I wanted the artwork to have a joyrider meets Thelma and Louise mood, which revolved around the idea of a ‘driving bassline’. This was inspired by the Pulp song ‘Joyriders’, which was released in 1995. I think the ‘Our Price’ price stickers, which also feature in the image are from a CD I bought in a charity shop, also from 1995.” Random, original and pretty inspired Clym’s crossed the t’s and dotted our i. Enjoy.

'A Noble Truth' was written in a few days, and based on the inspiration of
the buddhist teachings 'The Four Noble Truths', which is the central
doctrine. The track both reflects and embodies the idea of utilizing the act
of creation to transcend 'dukkha' (suffering) and achieve a state of connected-ness . 

As you listen to it, you'll hear that it starts off much more frantic and aggressive, sort of representing dissatisfaction - but then it evolves into a meditative state, evoking a sense of serenity that is simultaneously comforting and lonely.  Then, again, it shifts, and the cycle continues.  

This is more about the process of fluctuating duality than some tale of enlightenment. :)

I’m excited to be able to share my newest track with all of you. My friend Neil Bender loaned me his amazing handpan and I spent some time alone in the mountains working out this melody by the fire. You can hear my lovely Michele’s voice subtly singing the title of the song intermixed with alien communications. The violin part is a sweeping layered movement created by the one and only Lapa Listen on your favorite platform. Art by Android Jones.

Earth and Sun

It's the full moon, which means it's time to add the next song to the album The Space Between. This one is one of my personal favorites, titled Guiding the Light. I imagine myself in my highest power. My highest form. Not creating, but guiding the light of hope into the void of darkness that surrounds us all in creation and our return to dust. I don't really know what more to say about this one apart from the lyrics themselves.
