Serge SQP4+ Sequencer - Day 2

Using the Serge Dual Active Pro Plus in the FIRST AID for some ringing sounds and timbres: 1st ACPR+ is used as a ring modulator (well, kind of, with 3 input signals!), the 2nd one as a VCA. SINE waves come from a Dual PCO and an NTO, a CARNIVORE is in the driver seat, steering 2 SEQ8.

Serge Variable Q Filter (VCFQ) Demo

Playing around with the prototype of the 2015 Tau edition by Random*Source - built with 10 super-matched, low noise THAT300 transistor arrays. The build is an (early) attempt of a +/-12V adaption, but was run mostly on +/-15V during recording(!) with messy preliminary wiring and not really calibrated, so it may sound/behave different from a properly built +/-15V (or correctly modified 12V version). Anyway, I hope it still gives an idea of what 20 poles sound like ...

Serge Smooth&Stepped (SSG) Drones Demo

Exploring the resonant side of the Serge Resonant EQ (R*S edition for Eurorack, layering 2 live recordings, each basically using nothing but the EQ:
- Perc track was made by running a pulse from a DUSG into Input 1 and each 4th of those pulses (using a Pulse Divider) into Input 2 and playing with the 10 bands and the Feedback knob / Phase switch
- Drone track uses the normal (triangle) out for Input 1 and the Gate out from the same DUSG (running in Cycle mode as an oscillator) - again only playing with the bands and feedback.

Listen on good speakers at high volume :-)

Some raw waveforms run through the amazing Wave Multipliers (VCM)- licensed Eurorack version by Random*Source - exploring all 3 sections (individually, i.e. only one section used at a time).

Serge Wave Multipliers (VCM) - Part 2

The Serge VCFS is a legendary Serge filter that offers unique dynamic control of amount of filtering, from barely perceptible to highly resonant. 
Here are some sound samples of the Random*Source version of the filter, a licensed and authorized adaption of the VCFS for Eurorack. It is an improved design that uses 2 high-end THAT2180 VCAs and features an added Q knob, which allows to increase the resonance for an even wider sonic range.

Serge Variable Slope VCFS for Euro

Testing the new version of the R*S DUSG - using it as a dual oscillator (main layer), both sides tuned unisono to a Akai MAX49 keyboard, playing the keyboard, one side (R) into a Serge VCFQ, the other side (L) into a Serge VCFS, tracking over about 3 octaves. Background layer is snippets from random DSG explorations.

iNTO the darkness

Another one-knob patch I ran into testing the prototype of the Serge New Timbral Oscillator (NTO): 
NTO sequenced by a Serge 4-stage programmer, frequency turned up to >100kHz(!), static wave from a PCO into (exponential) FM input, playing with the FM knob. Recorded through Random*Source Stereo Mixer 1.1 (from DONKs) with some overdrive.

Part 2: sine out used, saw in (also far above audio rates), 
Part 3: Variable wave run through Serge Variable Slope Filter.

Serge DUSG Mk2 - Percussive

Some sound snippets using the Serge ÷N COM module for eurorack. The Divide by N section generates a (voltage-controllable) staircase output that can be use for lots of interesting effects and Gameboy-like sounds. The pulse output is great for rhythmic patterns, but also quite nice to drive a Serge Variable Q or Variable Slope filter for very organic / acoustic sounds.

What a drone machine! ... first sounds of the upcoming Haible Dual WASP Filter for Euro which features a voltage-controlled MODE (PARALLEL to SERIAL) - that allows to dynamically blend between uses such as a stereo filter or a 4 pole filter. Please note that this was recorded from the first prototype, final version may differ in some respects. Haible Dual WASP - R*S Edition 2016

Exploring the wild side of the incredible Haible Tau Pipe phaser - taking you right back to Sci-Fi movies of the 70s and beyond ... R*S version for eurorack ... built with the resonance modification to allow for self-oscillation.  So this is to show some abuses I felt worth recording - sound source is a Serge NTO for eurorack (VARIABLE OUT or PULSE OUT). No filtering or additional processing except for some reverb ...

Haible Dual WASP Filter

The (classic) Serge Triple Waveshaper combines 3 identical wave folding stages which can be linked via switches. The R*S version adds a 4th stage that can be dialed in using the "+1" knob, so that 3 to 4 levels of folding can be reached, allowing more folds and additional timbres. This demo shows some uses - sound sources are a Serge DSG mk2 and a Serge NTO.
