Two of Hospital Record’s most electrifying artists have formed an allegiance for a true coming together of titans. Bournemouth’s Krakota and Sao Paulo’s Urbandawn have combined their production talents to create the five-track ‘Focus Shift’ EP – a real drum & bass mash up of styles and sonic sequences.

The aptly named ‘Coyote’ is an absolute howler, unashamedly powerful and loaded with energy, distorting and plunging itself into new streams of audio chaos throughout.

‘Laguna’ fits with their alter-egos – sweet, pensive and majestic. Operating within a more classic Hospital framework, this rolling stroke of musical bliss will leave no party unsatisfied.

Sitting in the middle of this concerted creation is title track ‘Focus Shift’. Informed by both liquid-funk and tech styles, it’s gelled together with scathing bass riffs and high profile percussive chops.

‘Epigram’ has all the bassweight you’d expect from such a monolith collision of production powerhouses. Crisp and sinful, with a consistently militant atmosphere this song is pure depth, darkness and danger; with a genuinely intriguing sonic progression that renders this track as devastating as weapons grade plutonium.

Seeing the release home is ‘Paladin’. An ardent dancefloor destroyer that fuses the power of the stepper with the groove of a roller, that even angels would find themselves bustin’ a skank. Uplifting and powerful with cosmic subtleties in the low end twinned with sombre melodies and skittering drum-work all tempered in unison to create a certified banger.

Critical Event returns to Soul Deep, this time with help from up and coming producer, Conrad Subs, and the already established producer, Incident.  The EP is a journey through the future with its rolling basslines, rich textures, creative efx, and mood setting atmospherics.  The EP is kicked off with the title track, "Fifth Move", which features an enlightening fusion of jazzy piano riffs, soothing pads, snappy drums, echoing male vocals, and big underlying sub that fits the groove like a glove.  Next up, Critical Event is joined by Incident, and together they create an undeniable atmospheric gem that evokes emotions while making you want to bob your head in approval.  The groove is set by the steady ticking drums, lush atmospherics, tasteful vocals, and heartfelt piano keys.  The atmospheric groove is taken to the next level by a raspy mid bassline that adds an element of filth to the tune and creates the perfect balance of beauty and edginess.  "Silhouettes", wraps things up and includes the talented Conrad Subs taking the co-production responsibilities.  The songs starts off with a though provoking piano riff that quickly leads to the drop.  When the drop hits, the groove that is created is truly blissful.  The drum pattern twists and turns as the strings and piano loop take the listener on a journey into their own souls.  Epic productions!

Incident & Critical Event - Nostalgia

To celebrate what they consider to be their strongest year to date, Lifestyle deliver with their first ever Annual release to see off the remarkable year they've had. Lifestyle Annual 2017 features a compilation of the best tracks from the last 12 months, alongside 8 brand new pieces from a range of fresh to existing artists to really top it off.

''After attending this years Boomtown, and meeting up with Volatile Cycle and Barbarix backstage at the Scrap Yard, we got chatting about drum and bass and life and then put in place plans for these lads to get involved with the label. To kick their tenture off, we received an absolute belter from the production quartet that is Volatile Cycle, Barbarix and Blockdodger. It's safe to say 'Manifest' kills it from the outfit that put together the official Boomtown anthem. We're incredibly stoked to have this lot on-board, watch out for more from them soon.

Next up our German mates Instinkt are back for more on Lifestyle, with a track you'd expect only of this powerhouse duo. 'Conan' is big, bad and schmutzig. Following on and keeping it international, from New Zealand we have the Kiwi's Obeisant and Victim with their first release on the label, providing us with the dangerously large ‘6 Months’. Then to wrap up this sampler, there’s the slick liquid roller 'Born In November' from Slovak and German production trio Humanon, another debut on Lifestyle!

What a year we've had, and we couldn't look to end it on a better note with this annual.
