It's not music for faint hearted, or music aimed at infiltrating popular playlists, this is music for the those who truly appreciate the finest aspects of these incredible genres themselves and at every point "To Have & Have Not" from start to finish keeps it's roots set firmly in the music’s underground foundation.

The album delivers with an unfaltering intent and truly demonstrates Jubei’s incredible versatility with tracks that traverse & transcend from one corner of the music to the next with an almost effortless and misleading ease.

Each composition is within its own right a standout highlight. The track list includes a ridiculous amount of jaw-dropping collaborative talent. Credits for example see Jubei once again call on the vocal prowess of Flowdan for the LP’s massive follow up to past release "Say Nothing" entitled "The Moment". "State of the Art" flips the script at 170+ with SP:MC on vocal duties. Further co production credits on the album bring Jubei together the forces of Goldie, D-Bridge & Youngsta just to name a few.

Albums like this don’t come along every day and whilst some artists now imitate with sights set firmly on commercial success only a select few can originate whilst continuing to cross boundaries so consistently.

The efforts of Hayze on Noir Music have been very fruitful so far. Mesmerizing hits like “Around” and “Angel”, were both brought into this world in collaboration with the label’s head honcho Noir. Being no stranger to the label, time has come for a debut solo release by Hayze.

Everyone, sooner or later, experiences a life-changing moment. Some of these moments have a modest impact; other moments change your whole perspective on things. These are the points in life that make a difference. Overthrowing and surviving a life-threatening disease made Haze change his name to Hayze, by advice from his father. Same guy, same heart, same talent, but a different identity ready for the next chapter. Making “Brighter Days” not only his first solo project after his turning point, but an important and meaningful release for many more reasons.

“Brighter Days” comes from a true place in my heart as with all my records. It’s about finding light in the dark times; about hope, having faith in music and realizing the power of dance…

The original mix is deep with a lush synth riff as its main hook, laced over a phat rolling bass line underneath a bed of beats that have little nuances of effects and subtle percussion that come in and out without it feeling repetitive. The vocals are classic Hayze, deep, meaningful and melodic with hints of melancholy.

UK star Huxley shines on remix duties for this one. Taking elements from the original synth riff, he manages to capture a whole different vibe with the record, with strings and pianos complementing an uplifting dramatic breakdown coming straight into a garage style bass line that is vibrant and fresh overall with head nodding beats. It’s one to watch out for.

The Blueprints EP marks the welcome return of the talented Toulouse based producer Redeyes. Following a number of releases on seminal labels such as Bingo, Creative Source, Innerground and Brownswood in the mid 2000s, Redeyes then decided to take a step back from music production. Now returning as a more complete and mature artist, his Blueprints EP on Lenzman’s The North Quarter imprint sends an exciting message of where Julien Salvi stands in 2017.

Comprising of an ambitious nine tracks, Redeyes’ Blueprints EP showcases his exquisite musicianship and ability in the studio throughout each piece of music. In true North Quarter style, he effortlessly breaks down the boundaries between Drum & Bass and Hip Hop, whilst fully maintaining the soulful and heartfelt aesthetic that he is known and revered for.

The release sees him join forces with a plethora of exciting talent. ‘100 Porsches To The Stars’ brings him together with underground LA rap hero Hus Kingpin for a lo-fi Hip Hop masterclass. He also collaborates with Mancunian don Black Josh, Children of Zeus’ infamous Tyler Daley, North Quarter chief Lenzman, and many more.

Redeyes - In My Life

Launching in late 2018, Outlook Recordings rolls into 2019 with another massive release, this time from one of drum & bass biggest names and boss of Symmetry Records, Break. Widely regarded as one of the scenes finest producers and DJs, he is hugely respected by fellow producers and fans alike. Not content with sitting in just one genre, his Degrees Of Freedom project with Kyo spreads out across dub, house, garage and techno - which is showcased on this EP perfectly. 

"Excuses" has been creating hype on dubplate for over a year, with minimal percussion and strings making way for deep sonics and those trademark drums. Over on the flip things get eclectic with the deep dub of "For You" featuring Kyo's haunting vocals whilst "Take Your Time" flexes a 2-step vibe, perfect for the dancefloor. As a digital exclusive there are also 2 deep house tinged gems, "Monoxide" which slowly trickles into acid territory and the beautiful sun-soaked "Walk Away".

Mars Recordings is quietly building it's reputation for solid soulful d&b and this latest effort could eclipse them all. dRamatic & dbAudio released 'Far Away' with Grimm on vocals in the spring and we were all excited when Total science agreed to remix it. Their version is really breathtaking and will no doubt be supported by more than the list who already are, notably Friction & Marky. This could be a future classic. Flip for "Days runnin out" which is a classy rolling liquid tune taking you back 10 years when this sound really blew up. Release date for this 12" is 29/10/12

The label was born in September 2010 by Clive Psylence who runs Ingredients records. He wanted a label that had a particular sound trying to push the more soulful / liquid sounds again. The releases are up to 006 and have featured dRamatic & dbAudio, Mute & Mako, Edward Oberon & Paul T, Klute, Random Movement.
