“Our music is an extension of ourselves”

A Group of  young vibrant, talented artists have been creating a buzz around Cape Town with their new age Hip Hop sound.

The establishment of this passionate crew was fueled by a mutual love of hip hop among their friends. They began writing and recording original lyrics over pre-made instrumentals and from these results, it was evident that they were on their way to something profound.

 "Taboo Mentality "  is a unique, fresh and exceptional hip hop sound that flows into many different genres across the spectrum. Introducing a R&B vocalist has enriched their mix, accompanied by intellectual and controversial verses written by the rappers themselves, has propelled the crew to new heights on their musical journey.

Embodying poetry into a new age sound has worked to give the crew an edge along with defining their sound as original yet familiar.

In essence "Taboo Mentality" is to evolve the mind to a greater consciousness whereby no matter what your reality is, you have the power to alter it,  thus giving birth to a culture that inspires open-mindedness and infinite freedom of expression.

Our ambition is to continue to create music that the masses can relate to and that will be the spark to an inferno of debate and conversation. While we want to reach a widespread audience, we also want to create music of substance and quality. Despite the formation of this crew, each member is still an individual artist coming from a different walk of life and each bringing their own unique ideas and vibrant persona to shape a unified ambition as a group, and to blend an authentic sound that everyone will soon come to know as Taboo Mentality.

DJ, Producer, Songwriter and Owner of Cosher Recording Studios

Cosher (Colin Sher) studied sound engineering with a main focus on music production. After freelancing for a few years in his small home studio, he built a full scale recording studio to fulfil his business aspirations, but also to fulfil his potential as a music producer. Since opening in 2015 he has been signed as a solo DJ/Producer to Rude World Records and has remixes, and features with big names like Jimmy Nevis, Danny K and Mark Haze.

Cosher makes music continuously, if not for the business then in his free time. He has had a few tracks on national radios like 5fm as well as big local radio GoodHope Fm, This include his deep house remix of Extasy By Janice, Drum and Bass remix of Horizon By Jimmy Nevis, vocal house song called "If I ain't got Love" tropical house song "Just Come Home" and some more.

J-Dubz is a Cape Town based Emcee / Vocalist / Songwriter.
