Ecstatic Dance Leadership

A journey through what I like to call "world crunk": Starting with spacey downtempo, moving through world beats, mountain-step (!), hip-hop, breaks, dreamy dubstep and much more. This set was entirely unplanned and evolved through my interactions with the dancers and what I was feeling in the moment. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Alxndr Live At Oakland Ecstatic Dance July 21, 2013

My Set from Ecstatic Dance Sebastopol in November of 2021.  It was the first dance that they held since the pandemic, so it's the first time they gathered to dance this way for almost 2 years!  The energy was on FIRE!  The dancers were really feeling it and I was really feeling the they were feeding me with the best energy and it WENT OFF BIG TIME!  You can feel it in the music and I think the energy was embedded in the mix.  Hope you can feel it too!

Ecstatic Dance Melbourne 28.04.23

Live mix from the 2023 Dancing Tree Festival in Blue, Ridge Georgia, USA. Enjoy a progressive journey of melodic openings, deep bass, driving organic house and cumbia rhythms that cascades into a rich-story of returning home to the spirits of the forest. 

This live mix was set in the mystic lands of Heartwood, a visonary community in the base of the Appalachian mountains, graced by the presence of a beautiful pond, fire spinners, crawling rhododendron, live dancers and full live instrumentalists + vocalists (not captured in recording). The journey was begun with a candlelit circle and ended in full silence.

Ecstatic Dance is renowned for a musical journey that incorporates a variety of styles and tempos of music. The journeys are usually 2 1/2-3 hours long - this set is the second half of a journey so it starts pretty mid-tempo, works its way up to a higher energy section, and then comes back down to a sweet ambient landing.
