We are super excited to present this next episode in our guest mix series.. Our 18th instalment comes from a heavyweight name everybody knows in UK breaks, the legend himself Afghan Headspin! 

Afghan Headspin was born in 2006, Resonant Evil members Wrisk and Mackie forged a new identity to carry out their musical visions. Fast forward to 2011 and two became one, with Mackie taking the Afghan Headspin project solo.

It's Advent Day 23, it's my birthday, and it's time to get the party started in style with this brand-new and exclusive Breakbeat mix from the Drumattic Twins!

Reaching out after our call out for content for this year's Advent calendar, Nick Slater kindly offered his services and after a proper dig through his music collection, he has turned out another epic mix for us to share with you all. I was lucky enough to receive the mix a couple of days ago and after rinsing it proper, all I can say is that my senses are on fire! Music from the best label on the planet, Finger Lickin' Records, is well-represented because as you all know, that has been the home of the Drumattic Twins for so many years, but there are lots of other forgotten-about treats from around the time of when FLR was in it's pomp. Nick told me he had a massive amount of fun putting this mix together and it can be heard, loud and very clear! Have a great one, party people!

Advent Day 23: Drumattic Twins - LSM Advent Mix 2023

I always held the Freestylers in high regard so i thought i would put together a studio mix celebrating their music over such a long career. Lots of slapping breakbeats, high tempo in the first hour and a bit lower in the last 20 mins. As the title suggests I've Cut & Paste a lot of the tracks using Ableton to make edits and mixes on the fly while each track is mixed in key.

For those not familiar with the Tempest, he is a french DJ and producer based in Nantes, member of LOT49 and manager of his own label CClone Records.

Finding freedom in music he was lulled by rock and roll & blues as a young 'un progressing to techno sounds in the nineties where he found his real passion - djng at clubs and free parties.

Guess what came next .... he began to make is own beats! After various projects and aliases, Beat Tempest was born with his breakbeat, techno, techfunk sounds that we all know and love.

In 2013 he created his own label - CClone and by 2014 he was signed to the mighty LOT49.

And so ladies and gentlemen - we introduce to you his advent track - Santa Claus Breaker. A gritty breakbeat banger with balls!! Very heavy indeed...

It’s been another action packed year for, Phil Wrighton aka WheresNorth?. He has delighted festival crowds dj-ing throughout the summer and he’s also been bringing some of the best underground talent to his always bouncing ‘DuskTilDawn‘ nights in, Sheffield. Stanton Warriors, Mooqee, Mafia Kiss, Deekline and Utah Saints are just a few to visit the ‘Steel City’ this last year and the party continues up north as ‘DuskTilDawn’ celebrates it’s third birthday on 30th January with a jaw dropper of a lineup. Skapes, Dub Pistols (dj set) and Phil Hartnoll/ Orbital (dj set) are all on the bill and if this excites you get all the info HERE.
