I suppose I was introduced to the Pet Shop at an early age. I was 9 years old and most of my music came from my auntie and her cassette collection. ‘Now That’s by What’s I Call Music 18’ was the tape on repeat, and ‘Hard’ was track no.17 ☺️

Over 30 years later, they are still going strong. Headlining this years Glasto, their set inspired me to do this mix. WIth SO many classes to choose from, lets hope I do them justice. Enjoy folks! x

Here is the recorded set we performed with my dear friend Yassine at the festival Les 24 Heures de l'INSA a few weeks ago. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did with the lot of warm people who were there that night

Nu Guinea came together over a love of studio jam sessions. The Berlin based Italians fuse live instrumentals and synthesisers that journey to far corners fo the musical world, from weird disco to exotica, world grooves via ethno rhythms. Their most adventurous work has come in the form of albums on their own NG Records as well as Early Sounds Recordings, one of which found them rewire original Tony Allen drum recordings with their own jazz-funk vibes.

In the mix for us this week they stir up a steamy summer session of boogie bass, township funk and squelchy synth goodness. It’s 90 minutes of storytelling music that speaks of a lifetime of digging deep into local sounds and scenes and stitching them all together with the sort of underlying grooves that transcend boundaries and bring people together under the sun.

Here to enhance the party mood even further in the run-up to the big day we have 'Bring On The Brass Vol. 4' by me for day 23 of our awesome advent calendar of music. That's right folks, my annual mixtape that celebrates the spark of joy only brass brings to music is back!

Funk and Disco is once again the order of the day with my mixtape, with a selection of old and new tracks from my collection that I've hunted high and low for to make sure they fit the brass brief. As you'll hear, my hunting has brought great rewards and a fine selection of tracks can be heard from a super-talented crop of producers, many of whom have been featured on LSM several times before. A big thank you must go out to the guys and girls out there for making sure we always find our happy place when listening to their music! As for my mix, it's an upbeat and uptempo affair that's been put together in the hope that it brings a smile to your faces while you bust out some alcohol-fuelled shapes. Happy Christmas one and all!
