Anyone who has caught me on Twitch over the last few months will know how obsessed I got with gospel music since seeing the mighty House Gospel Choir at Shindig Festival.

Been collecting some great modern gospel & remixes of classic tunes, now have put together a super soulful mixtape to enjoy!

Featuring the likes of House Gospel Choir, Dames Brown, Sophie Lloyd, Candi Staton, Oliver Heldens and many more this demonstrates the variety and verstility of the genre!

It’s that time again! Last year we brought you the 12 Days of Christmas, this year it’s the 25 days of advent, a mix and / or track for each day and we are super excited to show off what we have in store.

Sticking with tradition we kick things off with friend of the blog, Rory Hoy bringing you possibly his most eclectic mix to date! Starting with some house and disco, things soon progress to funky breaks and big beat to acid house, to full on techno at the end. Featuring some of this own tracks along the way, this cheery chap from Leeds has got good reason to be always smiling!

Advent Day 1 - Rory Hoy - LSM Xmas 2022 Mix

Super Saturated are a trio of DJs and producers from Cornwall who are known for bringing a smorgasbord of fun and funky dance music to their club nights and festival appearances around the South West of the UK. With Joe Getz on drums, DJ Lotfy on the ones and twos, and The Fritz on vibes, these three could whip up a dancefloor at a funeral with their signature Good Time Party Vibes&trade;. Now, they've put together their first EP, Sol Brazilierio, which is set for release on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings, and is as infectious as it is uplifting, and packed to the rafters with Happy Disco Good Times&trade;.

It's fair to say that Pecoe's release rate in 2022 has been off the scale and while I feel pretty confident in saying he's not released something every week of the year, he's released that much that I would have to go and check. Most of what he has released throughout the year has carried his signature funky breaks sound, but a couple of curve balls were thrown out in the form of two excellent disco-led EP's on Rare Wiri and Spa In Disco. Still laced with funk, the two four-track EPs added another string to his bow and showed that there is more to his production work than the well-crafted funky breaks jams we've become accustomed to. 

In keeping with the theme of those two EPs, we have another slice of nu-disco from Pecoe to bring you for day five of our advent calendar. In The 80's is an intense, deep and captivating groove that's easy to get lost in until the bassline kicks in to literally rock your world! It's a little something different from what we're used to from Pecoe, but that's how we like it and like it we do! Download for free on the player above.

Thanks very much to our friend and occasional blogger Ruthie for being our terrific, third day. Our sassy sax player joins us for another year, and as usual, it’s the quality we know to expect! It’s eclectic, it’s uplifting and most importantly …. it’s fun! From deep house, to breaks, to funk feat. Malcolm Strachan And Mr. Crucial, she put’s her unique stamp on the mix making it a truly ruthless affair!

On Advent Day 14, we dip into the world of Drum and Bass - particularly of the liquid kind - with a sublime mix from Peterborough-based Nick 'Sincere' Porter. 

A bonafide member of the old skool, Nick has been promoting the music he loves since the late 80s/early 90s with his High Rollaz club night. Fast forward to present times and while his club night remains, High Rollaz has now become the name of his record label and radio show on Future Sounds Radio. The music found in Nick's mix reflects the type that can be heard on his radio show and what you can expect from his label brilliantly and it could easily be one of the best Drum and Bass mixes you've heard in a while. 

Opening with an intro featuring his brother from another mother, Rayan Gee of rave legends Shades of Rhythm, Nick gets the ball rolling with the latest release on High Rollaz - Twilight - and then proceeds to serve up an incredible selection of liquid funk and deeper liquid Drum and Bass. The flow and progression of the mix are a joy to the eardrums and warm your cockles this mix most definitely will.
