Our 275th Global Vibe Radio episode features the cerebral and captivating, deep techno sounds of Spanish label boss, producer and DJ Reeko.

Born in Oviedo (Asturias) in 1981, Juan Rico p/k/a/ Reeko is a DJ who has rapidly attained recognition other artists have taken a long time to gain. In his case, it’s not been a matter of chance or coincidence, but the result of his innate and incredible capacity to be prolific, alongside his obsession for perfection. 

Reeko finds himself, deservedly, among the elite of Hispanic and global techno. He has released huge techno productions that have charted and played by the best DJs in the world. From his first tracks and EPs released on labels as reputable as Theory, Main out, Integrale Muzique, Deafmosaic, Inceptive, Rxxistance, Trece Records, Symbolism, Planet Rhythm, Warm Up or Palicavonzvreca, to more recent releases on Soma and Semantica

Reeko’s “pathological” label/laboratory, Mental Disorder, was created in 2003 and is the imprint under which he has released a plethora of works of ever-increasing quality.

Following on from Mental Disorder was label Evidence, launched in 2005 and used by Reeko as a conductor to open up listeners, to his passion for the darkest and sickest parts of the human mind. Reeko is an integral part of the PoleGroup collective, the cream of techno formed in 2004.

Spawned from PoleGroup is the powerhouse that is Selección Natural, uniting Reeko with Oscar Mulero & Exium. The consolidation Igniting a new level of Spanish techno and craft. 201 8 brought their initial self titled LP and October 2019 their latest LP ‘Left Behind’.

Reeko has proven himself over and over again a true master of the darkest and hardest-hitting productions, slavishly followed by thousands around the world eager for a glimpse of this elusive master craftsman. For those lucky enough to be present, his is a performance that both inspires and devastates in equal measure, witnessed at Awakenings, both solo and B2B with Oscar Mulero, Berghain, Tresor, Fuse, Concrete and Fuse, and extensive touring of the USA, South America & Australasia

ASEC is an up and comer berlin-based artist and label project. Formally raised into music via Manchester and its roots.  Asec’s productions are centered around raw, yet hypnotic dancefloor-oriented electronic music. He focuses on tension and release with tracks that build up momentum and a high level of intensity. Being one of the few acts that involve modular live sets in our techno circuit, he will always tend to deliver consistency, an expansive music vision, consisting of dark textures, idiosyncratic melodies and dynamic drum sounds. Having had a few releases on his label in collaboration with Kwartz (Polegroup) and Tremudo (Klockworks); he also made a track called Thousand Cuts for the 100 years of Colombia Digital Album by Planet X.

16YRS Rote Sonne | ASEC [live in Berlin]

The Paris based artist dc11 got into making music via modular synthesisers and to this day they are his tool of choice in the studio as well as in clubs. Gravitating towards the loopy side of techno, his live sets always leave a big part to improvisation. Finding ways to slightly shift loops hasn’t lost its appeal yet.

Dj and label owner Linny Hex’s hallmark as one of Swedens most frequently requested techno djs is to flourish on the borderland of night club and underground parties. Her performances at recognized fesitvals and clubs in Europe (Into the Valley, Izvir festival, Norberg Festival, Department Festival) has helped crystalize her sound and made her one of the most influential techno figures in Sweden. 

The blend between hypnotic soundscapes and pumping, stripped down, percussion heavy rythms that characterizes Linny’s dj sets has brought her to join lineups in countries such as Italy, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, the UK and Denmark. More recently, Linny has become a well known figure within the European techno scene as founder of Kvalia Records. By its 6th release Kvalia hosts some of the worlds leading techno producers on its roster such as DJ Nobu, Psyk, Anthony Linell, Exos and Blazej Malinowski, and has hosted label nights in Berlin and Stockholm.
