haiku #451: first light / losing the thread / of a dream

This is the final experiment I'm going to do using an Audacity cut up from the piano improvisation I did a few weeks back (thanks @stellato-strings for use of your lovely piano), and I'm still playing around with seeing what sounds I can maximise from the Garageband presets.

Losing the thread of a dream [naviarhaiku451]

This lovely haiku by Taylor Wray led me towards the Phrygian mode. My improvisation, in E Phrygian, is played on Babylon VST synth. Recorded and mixed in Reaper, with Frostbite2 added. Mastered with CloudBounce.

Ikenishi Gonsui (1650–1722) was a haiku poet from Nara who settled permanently in Kyoto in 1684. A collection of his works, entitled Ikenishi Gonsui no kenkyū, was published in 2003.

Warm Windows

This is a remix of the 1920 recording of 'Nina' by Hans Kindler. i cut the track into sections and remixed, then created three layers, one consisting of the surface noise at the beginning and end, repeated and stretched. I made alterations to pitch and tempo then added grains, delay, reverb, echo, etc.
