A gathering swarm of united insects. A collaboration with multiple members of the Disquiet Junto project.

Passing Swarm (disquiet0502)

For this prompt, Global Swarming, I used the great strings-based piece composed by project-dirigent(Chris) and expanded it into a swarm using Supercollider.  At one point there are approximately 80 loops of Chris' track. The resulting track was mixed in Ableton Live.

Gregaria(disquiet0502)

This was fun! A challenge to create a track purely from distorted voices. I had a bunch of vocal samples laying around so I thought, why not?

I used all inbuilt Ableton effects; starting with the whispers, reversed, and adding a filter delay. 
Then the 'drums' - a chopped up sample, with 'loop off beat' and 'brute compression' added. This was hard to mix!
The more natural 'ooo' has a phaser (phased and confused)
The glitchy, trebl-y squeak and the deep bass are that same 'ooo' transposed way up/way down.
